2 points:

1. John came off as a know-it-all. That was pretty clear from what we had to go on.

2. John is a pastor. Everyone in his tribe knew that. As such, it certainly can be inferred that he is a deeply religious person.

Therefore, where is it erroneous to describe John as a "religious know-it-all?"

I believe the phrase I used was "religious know-it-all", where the main thing was that he was a "know-it-all" and religious was an adjective further qualifying the statement.

My point was that no one likes a know-it-all, and coupling that superiority with a religious bent makes that person seem even more "superior" than the rest of them.

Maybe you'd like to answer why you keep personally attacking me for expressing my opinions? Do we share some of this superiority complex?

Asking you how you know John is a "religous know-it-all' is attacking you ?

How ?
Why are you so defensive ?

I watched the 1st show.
Where does he come off as a know-it-all ?
Please give me some examples why you think he is.

What did he say or do that made you think that ?

I don't remember John telling everyone he was a Pastor.
In fact I remember Jeff telling everyone in the beginning, "you may or may not want to tell what you do" to all of the contestants.

Helen voted for Clay because she "thought" he was rich.
She didn't know what he did for a living.

When they were in the boat and he was barking orders to everyone on how to row.

I'm pretty sure he said that he was a Pastor. Also, I would assume that he did not hide his religion in daily activities. I can assume that he prayed before meals and before going to sleep. His luxury item was a Christian Flag. Now you tell me that his tribemates did not know how religious he was.

John didn't come off bossy to me at all (like Deb in S2).
Telling others the right way to row, reading the map the correct way (not upside) and finding water for the tribe are postive things. He's helping his team win.

From his bio:
John worked his way through college as a carpenter and shipbuilder.

John enjoys scuba diving, spear fishing, deer hunting (gun and bow and arrow), playing guitar and writing country songs. He's been to 39 of the United States, Jamaica, Mexico, Canada and mission trips to the jungles of the Mosquito Coast in Honduras and Nicaragua.

From Ghandia's bio:
Ghandia is currently employed as an accredited legal secretary and owns a beauty salon with her husband, Sly. She previously worked as a receptionist, telemarketer and as a cashier/fry cook.

Looks like they voted the wrong person out.

If you are implying that I think it was smarter to boot John before Ghandia, then you are dead wrong. I made it quite clear earlier in the threat that Ghandia would have been my no-brainer vote. I was only offering a possible explanation as to why John was voted off.

How do you explain it? The "Biggest Threat" argument is possible, but this early in the game it is more important to win team challenges than worry about Surviving near the end of the game. Of course, maybe his tribemates are just that stupid. They certainly demonstrated that in designating Ghandia as the one to solve a puzzle.

There is a fine line btwn helping/suggesting and bossing, at least in this game. What you find to be helping may be very different than how another person sees it.

I think Ghandia knew she was toast and went to the other tribe members to vote John off.

I don't think John's tribe members knew that much about him that the perceived him as a big threat.

I don't think this would be enough alone. I can't imagine that after the challenge, Ghandia had that much pull. I think the bossiness of John was the most compelling reason for expulsion.

9/26/02 show:

The winning tribe for the luxury items was:

Spoiler:
Sook-jai and they got some good fishing gear so they could fish for more food instead of relying on the fruit/vegatation.

The winning tribe for immunity was:

Spoiler:
Sook-jai once again as they were first to put together a big jigsaw puzzle of a flower on the water - the pieces required each survivor to swim and release the pieces underwater. It was a close event, but Sook-jai pulled out another immunity challenge.

And so the 2nd person to get the boot is:

Spoiler:

Tanya - for her puking ways. That's too bad because she's really pretty.

Next week looks like a can't miss episode. I haven't even seen the episode and I gotta side with the dude, that guy seemed like a genuine nice guy, while the woman, is already on my nerver. First taking way to long on the 1st episode, then acting as though the navy woman didn't handle stress correctly(what about her during that game?!?)

This is gonna be awesome!

Amazing how the old worthless hag still continues on. Even puking like crazy, that chick is more useful than the old hag.

I suspect that this will be another thing that they will make it seem like it is much worse than it really is. Of course if there is a genuine dispute then it should make for good TV.
