It's not an OAV, it's a TV series. Tenchi Muyo GPX will focus on the Galaxy Police force and will feature a new cast (including Mihoshi's mother), although the classic characters will show up eventuallty.
Character designs are pretty much what you'd expect from this franchise. There's an english website somewhere, but I can't find the link.

I found the link

Tenchi Muyo GXP, Tuesdays at 0:55 am on NTV!
The new main character, Yamada Seina, looks just like Tenchi:
One of the characters looks a bit like Kyone:
And of course, Mihoshi's mother (chief cleaning lady!):
Hopefully, this will be better than Tenchi in Tokyo.

The GPX series is a seperate entity from the (confirmed) Third OAV series (see http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=38 ).
The third OAV series for Tenchi hasn't been released anywhere, yet.

The rumor i heard, was that a 3rd Tenchi series would be coming out and that the creator would finally make Tenchi decide who he would marry, Ayeka or Ryoko.
And this info was NOT refering to the Galaxy Police show.
I dunno if this info was at Animenation.com or AnimeonDVD.Com

Yeah, I heard about this one a while back.
It's supposed to focus on the three goddesses (Tokimi, Tsunami, and Washu) and once and for all Tenchi's gonna choose. If I recall correctly, it's supposed to hit Japan by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, the Mihoshi special is finally gonna be on DVD in October.

What was the second OVA? I know of the original OVA (13 episodes,) the two TV series (Universe and Tenchi in Tokyo,) the three movies,) and the Pretty Sammy OVAs/Magical Project S TV (is that the right name?)
Unless episodes 8-13 and the carnival special are considered to be the second OVA, I am stumped. BTW, I always included the Mihoshi Special as part of that grouping, I guess it isn't included on the Ultimate Tenchi Muyo, though.

First OAV was 1-6, followed by the "Night Before the Carnival" special, while the second OAV was 8-13 followed by the Mihoshi special, which should've been included in the Ultimate Tenchi Muyo boxset, but wasn't. For some reason, it's gonna be included on the Pretty Sammy set in October. No matter, I'll be buying it anyway.

Just to set the record straight. AIC and Pioneer are co-producing Tenchi Muyo OVA 3. AIC was not going to do the 3rd Tenchi OVA series if Pioneer did not co-produce it. I believe Pioneer USA put up the money given that it is one of their strongest titles.
OVA3, as far as I know, is currently in production. I would expect an early to mid-2003 release of it, but that is just a guess. As others have said, Tenchi Muyo GXP is a totally different series than the OVA 3.

You can click on the other sites from there.
And how much time does it take to go to Google and type in AIC anime? Just wondering...took me like 5 seconds.

Just got some news about OVA 3 from AIC:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The producer stated that Tenchi does NOT make a choice in the coming OAV. Several people mentioned the Kajishima interview and Mr. K's statement about Tenchi deciding, but the producer was firm in saying there would be no choice. He was speaking through an interpreter, but the no on the choice was very clear, as he was asked the question more than once.
The US distributor will be announced in about a month.
Mr. Kajishima does have an idea for further OAVs, and it seems it all depends on how well OAV 3 and GXP do.
OAV 3 has not yet started production, and will not until the end of the year--and there is a strong chance it will be pushed back to until the beginning of 2003.
OAV 3 will be six, perhaps seven episodes.
OAV 3's art style will be consistent with that of the previous two.
They would be interested in an OAV and/or a GXP film, but once again, only if GXP and OAV 3 do well.
Tenchi's mother will not appear in OAV 3 or GXP. Ditto for Kiyone (drat!).
Ryo-ohki is in for some surprises in GXP...perhaps that white creature that was in a screenshot posted awhile back is indeed a cabbit?
GXP is in the widescreen format.
GXP will not reveal what occurs in OAV 3, but there are clues and references scattered throughout. No decision by Tenchi may also explain why everyone is still together.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So much for Tenchi choosing, hey, at least ther's a possibility of there being more than just 3 OVA's!!!!!!
