Anyone rememeber The StoryTeller on the Jim Henson Hour Show
Man i keep on thinking of the show more and more often and i'm now trying to find a place that might sell *gasp* VHS copies of the shows. They had a few episodes of the story teller (Ian McKellen i believe was the story teller)
-There the one about the lady 3 children turn into crows and can't say a word or they will stay as crows.
-The dog city episode
- the magic shoes in which a man tries to bring to his "special love" as a gift
-a man searches for a way for people to die and accepted into heaven as he cursed everyone to live for ever do his son could live past 10 (something along that line)
-and also the PFX shop in which a kid walks into a SFX shop only to be encountered by the SFX creatures (metal skeleton dragon)
If anyone knows were i can get these episodes or even remembers the show. Please let me know what you thought of the show and if you know where to get them.

Wonderful Henson series on HBO they run it every so often on HBO Family used to be everyday. I have seen every episode not sure how many there were total but they are all highly entertaining featuring wonderful puppetry and optical F/X
The "Storyteller" was masterfully played by John Hurt BTW
contact HBO or look there for further info we may have to badger them into releasing this on DVD.

I fondly remember the neat puppet/animatronic dog that sat close to the storyteller as the watched the fire. What a great show this was. It kinda reminds me of the fairy tale theater series that was hosted by Shelly Duvall. I also used to like this series as a kid.

I don't remember anything about a hedgehog. I rememeber the one about the Mermaid a bit and the one about How no one could die.
Also the big white lion they had was amazing to look at as well.

Garmbonbozia that was an episode of this show, it was about this boy who was born half hedge hog and how he dealt with his life. Quite sad from what I remember but it had a happy ending

I forgot about that one. Yeah the magical sack i believe is the one when the people could not die. The man had biscuits or something in there. If not you might be thinking of the magical slippers for the mermaid one. Oh well i just want them on DVD

Holy crap, the mention of the hedgehog brought back a ton of old memories. Didn't the story have something to do with turning into a real boy at night, but leaving his hedgehog quills and stuff behind? Because I remember a scene where someone threw the hedgehog quills into the fire or something...

Thats right he turned into the hedgehog during the day and became himself at night. Man I would love to watch these again the production values were excellent as were the stories.
