Everyone picks one or the other. You cannot like both, and will not like both as long as I am alive.
If you are a person who just goes with whoever has the better guests on, then don't vote, and consider yourself lucky I'm not at your house right now.
My pick in a landslide is Letterman.
When is the last time Leno said anything remotely funny?

Letterman. I don't watch much late night TV but when I do it's always Letterman. I just love his brand of humor. The only thing I like on Leno is the headlines on Monday.

I like Letterman more....i just find his brand of humor much more entertaining.
Leno....i dont really hate the guy...its just when i can sit through and entire show without cracking a smile then there is a problem.

I think if you're under 50 and live near a major city, you'd pick Letterman over Leno. Being grumpy makes for better tv

Letterman varies from pretty good to kind of weak. I've really had enough of Rupert (and I don't watch that often).
Leno varies from mildly amusing (rare) to INCREDIBLY AWFUL (common).
Letterman by default.

Back when I was in high school I used to skip class to watch Dave's short lived morning show. Dave used to be cool, now he's pretty lame. Not nearly as lame as Jay Leno though. Dave got punked on that NBC deal. Jay is SO middle of the road that it's just painful to watch. He's designed for the mindless masses. If you think he's funny you need help.

I am one of the few who votes for Jay. I hate Letterman. I just do. I can't stand him and Paul. And if you think I need help, no you do.
You are a drone following the "Letterman is God. Letterman should be the host of the Tonight Show. I can't get over it. AHHHH!" :P
I would pick Conan over Jay. But still Leno over Letterman. I can probably stomach that dude that comes on after Letterman more than Letterman himself.

I voted for Letterman, simply because he isn't Leno. Conan would have been my pick had he been on the poll. His wit, self-depricating humor, and brilliantly timed and executed spur of the moment jokes make him infinitely better than David or Jay. Not to mention that Conan has the best writers on late night TV. I mean seriously, what other show would have the balls to have a character named Camel Toe Annie?

Whether we want to admit it or not, a show like Conan's (or Letterman in the Late Night days) won't find itself airing at 10:30 CST.
As for Leno, he's beyond hope. You have to have wit to pull off comedy and he doesn't have it.

I thought this was a poll between Dave and Jay, not a "say conan so you can think you're cool or something." anyway..
Letterman is much better than Leno. Both of their monologues are pretty weak, but Letterman is a better, more natural comedic talent. Leno has to try to be funny(and usually fails), Letterman just is. Letterman also has better gimmicks like "Is this anything?" and "Will it float?" and my personal favorite, "Beat the clock."
Oh, and yes Conan is better than both of them, but that's because he's on at 12:30 and is allowed to do things letterman and leno can't. Although I don't think Leno would be any funnier at 12:30, he'd just talk about sex and say "ass" a bit more.

Although I don't watch him as much as I used to, I prefer Dave by a large margin.
However, there is one thing Dave does that has annoyed me for years. It's when he comes onstage for the opening monologue and his first joke refers to something about someone in the studio audience that was said or revealed before taping began. So, the 300 audience members have a good laugh, while the millions of people watching television don't have the slightest idea what the hell he is talking about.
Honk!
