I also enjoyed when Mike Myers is the old lady talk show host and Madonna was there and then Barbara Strisand came in.
Various Waynes Worlds...
When Britney Spears played the mad mouseketeer on the talk show skit.

I love the ones where Norm MacDonald played Letterman. "Uh..uh...ya got any gum?" Especially the one where Alec Baldwin comes out as DeNiro.
And of course, any Celebrity Jeopardy and the Chris Walken Blue Oyster Cult sketch.

Voice of Producer: Fine. We'll get Stone Phillips to do it. You know, I'm sure Stone Phillips would be thrilled to break a story like that!
Tom Brokaw: Alright. Let's keep moving.. [ graphic of Ford and the corpse of Richard Nixon ] "Stunning news from Yorba Linda today, as Richard Nixon's corpse climbed out of his grave and strangled Gerald Ford to death."

It's tough to pick a favorite, but I think the funniest thing I ever saw on SNL might have been "America's Most Wanted Former Child Actors."
It featured:
Phil Hartman as John Walsh (the host)
Chris Farley as Mindy Cohn
Adam Sandler as Barry Williams (formerly Greg Brady)
Chris Rock as Todd Bridges (I think)
Michael J. Fox (who hosted the show) as Danny Bonaduce
David Spade as Michael J. Fox
A few others I can't remember
When Spade came out and impersonated Fox in front of the real Fox, you can tell that the real Fox was doing all he could to keep from laughing his a** off.

Having not read any of the responses to the original post, I'm going to say Christopher Walken/Will Ferrell and the "Cowbell" skit...and I bet it's one of the leaders in this thread.

OK. I gotta jump in here. Can't believe no one has mentioned the best skit ever. Which has never been aired in its entirety since.
The one I'm talkin about stars the late Phill Hartman as President Reagan. He is in the oval office and is a doing a great job of ordering his minions about and being a general tough ass when he has to talk to the Girl Scout
"Damn!, This is the part of the job I hate."
Then the part that always gets cut out is when Dana Carvey shows up as Jimmy Stewart. The banter between them is hillarious.
"Bu, Bu, But Dutch, What are you going to do? Blow me away?"
I would love to have this one on tape again.
I taped over it years ago and they always chop it up in re-runs.

Forgot about the Letterman sketches
"uh, uh...enjoying your shrimp?"
Then they play "mister, can you sell me a hot dog" and MacDonald dressed as Letterman goes into the street and asks a vendor "can you sell me a hot dog", the vendor goes "yes" and the skit is over. Classic stuff.
BTW, no one has mentioed Matt Foley yet. Awesome stuff there.

And who can watch Star Wars without singing along ala Bill Murray's lounge lizard: "Star Wars... Nothing but Star Wars..."

One that I liked, was the "star wars test screenings" with Kevin Spacey.
"...made the kessle RUN, in less then 12 PAR-secs, is that fast enough FOR you, OLD ma-an?"
"I told you, I don't want to wear the damn mask!"

Oh, and how could I forget, "The McLaughlin Group"!
"Wrong! Pat Bu-chanon!"
Also, there was a Mr. T cartoon that I thought was the funniest one they've done.
"Shut up foo', I need work!"

That Mr. T cartoon where he got all his catch-phrases mixed up was priceless. "Don't do prayers, drink your drugs, and say your milk, kids!"

The Oliver North/"Mute Marine" singalong was pretty good. Of course, that episode also had Shatner as the head of the Enterprise restaurant. "I need full relish!" "It's working captain".
And then his parody of Star Trek conventions. "Look at you. How old are you? Have you ever kissed a girl?".
Not even remotely a Star Trek fan but I found these funny.

Some of the greats are:
1. Lothar of the Hill People
2. When the REAL DeNiro and Pesci confront the "fake" deniro and Pesci on "The Joe Pesci Show"
3. Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer: "Ladys and Gentleman, I'm just a caveman" short and brilliant, Astronaut Jones has the potential of being this great
Runner up is:
Anything Sprokets
And The Winner Is:
The episode where they parodied the Clarence Thomas/Anita Hill Senete Confirmation hearing. This is the Ben-Hur of sketch comedy. It involved every member of the cast. It ran for nearly 15 minutes. Everone was really funny (especially Farley). When it origionally aired it was very up to the minute (political satire at its finest).
Sen. Strohm Thurmond(Carvey): "Women don't like close-ups of oversized GENITALIA that JUST AIN'T NEVER GONNA TURN 'UM ON!"
Sen. Heflin (Farley) in response to hearing about Clarence Thomas' favorite film "The Hind-Lick Meneuver": "Well that's a GOOD movie judge!"
Chris Rock as Long Dong Silver
Whenever this is repeated on Comedy Central or on the "SNL Presidental Bash" tape, they cut the hell out of it.

Anyone ever see the short movie where these (seemingly) robbers break into this family's house?
The robbers are wearing ski-masks and they roust the family out of bed and they slam them up against the wall and put a gun to the father's head and in an ominous voice the robber says...."you're........going..........skiing" the next scene shows the family doing downhill skiing. Hilarious!

That was great but I still prefer Joe Piscopo's Sinatra.
