Thanks. I remember that part, but I didn't hear him say it.

Israel Kamakawiwoole, aka IZ, was a big man with an incredible voice. The man was a cultural icon in Hawaii. When he died in 97? 98? The state lowered all it's flags to half-staff. "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" is on the album "Facing Future"

Just a quick update, his cd is now #12 on Amazon's top-seller list. I wonder why...

The first time I heard it was in the old etoys commercial with the mom looking up "fish".

Just an FYI, it is also the song playing at the ending credits of "finding Forrester". I have the DVD, so that's why I know.

i haven't watched er in a couple of years. for the first 5 seasons or so i never missed an episode but for some reason i just kinda got disinterested in it whne the originals started leaving and they kept bringing in all the new characters. that being said, i tuned in to watch mark's final goodbye and man was it ever a great episode. so well done and classy. the only problem i had was with rachel. i could be wrong but i would think that she could have acted better towards mark knowing that he was going to die. it was good to see the funeral at the end with all of the er staff. carter sure does look older since the show started or even from just a couple of years ago. i will miss mark.

There was another song in that episode that was well placed. It was a Beatles song but for the life of me I can't remember what it was. Anybody remember the song or got it on tape that they could check it out and lemme know what it was. It was while Mark and Rachel were first driving into the vacation home and he had the song on the radio.

It was either "Imagine" (which is a John Lennon song) or "Yesterday," I think.

John Lennon's Imagine was the song played.

I need a huge favor guys. I would love to have a copy of this show on VHS. I somehow managed to mess up the vcr recording of this and my wife is about to kill me if I don't come up with an alternative. I would be happy to pay for the tape and shipping if someone could do me this favor. E-mail me if you can help out.

Man, I missed it!

Maybe they will rerun it or sell it on DVD soon.

I am at work reading this and had to stop because to many tears are coming to my eyes.

I just watched this episode on the Season 8 dvd set. I stopped watching after season 6 so 7 and 8 were all new to me. Man i can't believed how choked up i got over this episode. Mark Greene has always been my favorite character so this was a very tearfully but excellent written episode. Did Anthony Edwards win an emmy for this? Great acting all around. I don't know if i will be picking up season 9 when it eventually comes on dvd. I think Mark Greene's departure might be a fitting end.
How's ER after season 8?
