What did you guys think of tonight's episode? Kinda important ending there with
Hopefully the show continues the recent streak of good episodes they've had the past few weeks.

It was a decent episode of The Lone Gunmen.
I felt the heavy-handed Joey Ramone soliloquy was a bit too much.
I think it's funny that the title of this episode is "Jump The Shark"

Tying up loose ends before the "Endgame" story arc kicks off. I thought it was a good, solid episode. And kind of sad because of what happens. I'm a little surprised at the ending because I figured that element was going to be part of the final arc.

This is the first episode I've seen since the season opening two-parter. Somehow I don't think I missed much (except for Scully's new hairdo).
Too bad CNN Headline news reported the ending two months ago, citing Ain't It Cool News as its souce. The way I figure, if you read AICN, you're looking for spoilers. If you're watching friggin' Headline news, you're not.
Does anyone else think it's more than a little ironic
It seems very fitting, I think.

If you gotta go, go with dignity. I liked the Lone Gunmen, but I'm not unhappy they were killed off because their final send-off had some meaning to the sacrifice they knowingly made. They were truly brave characters in spite of the odds.
Now, I do wonder why the need to kill them off, maybe to finally pound down one of the nails into the X-Files casket before it heads into Arlington as well.
I also have to wonder if there will ever be another X-Files film. The main 2 leads have moved on, perhaps it's time for their fans to move on, maybe that's what Chris was trying to tell them tonight.

I didn't see any bodies.. did you see any bodies??
I saw some closed caskets, but no bodies..
Chris Carter has even said, "Nobody ever dies in the X-Files"
(how many times have we thought Rat Boy and Cancer Man have died?)

I wasn't too impressed with this episode. I basically jsut watched cause i wanted to see if they sat up anything for endgame, but it looked pretty self-contained.

Honestly, it was pretty lame.
The story served no other purpose than to dispose of characters who did not need to be disposed of. If you're going to kill off characters who've been around since the beginning of the show, at least let their deaths serve some kind of purpose with regards to the plot of the show.
Good to see Michael McKean back, though.
And I also noticed that we saw closed caskets, no bodies, and no death scene. And when you're watching a sci-fi show, you know what that usually means...

The whole thing reminded me of Star Trek II, Spock's death scene: seperated by glass, hands "touching" through the glass, the obligatory spouting of meaningful-sounding garbage (in the case of The X-Files, not necessarily in the case of STII). Considering how the whole Spock thing played out, I would't be surprised if the Gunmen popped up in the movie sequel (assuming there is to BE a sequel).
And I also thought that the doctor DID look and sound like Dave Foley. I'd be curious to know the actor's name.........

just sucks to kill off characters in a sacrafice method without serving the good of the OVER ALL story.

BTW I'm pretty sure that the movie is a done deal and will start filming very soon.

I too thought this was a weak episode. It was more of a tie up for The Lone Gunman show that an X-Files epsiode. Dangling the Super Soldier in front of us at the beginning was a really cheap trick. Even with the short intro at the beginning, I felt lost with these characters and their relationship to one another since I never watched The Lone Gunman. Can you believe they put Scully and Skinner in the credits? They each had like two lines in the final scene. I thought Mulder should have been at the funeral as he was closer to the guys than anyone else there.

I'm just annoyed that they made a big deal over the return of Mulder for the final episode. I mean, the guy isn't all that necessary for a good show and the fact that Duchovny made such a stink over leaving they should have just left Mulder be. JMHO.
Otherwise, I think they've had stronger episodes and the ending was somewhat surprising and sad. I'm thrilled they brought Michael McKeon back coz he had the best cameo role in this series. Can't wait for the final episode... sort of. I love the X-Files.
