The Simpsons 4/21

Well I was going to say "worst episode ever"

BUT, they redeemed themselves in the last minute. The "We Didn't Start the Fire" parody was great. Hehe, "they'll never stop the Simpsons. [...] Sorry for the clip show/We'll have stories for years"

That and "These aren't tears, we're vomiting from our eyes!"

Yeah, pretty bad clip show but that line about "sorry for the clip show" was great.

Are shows under some obligation to make clip shows every few years or something? It seemed like the writers were really struggling to find ways to incorperate the clips into the story. Why do they even do these in the first place?

I'm almost positive that part of the contract that FOX has to broadcast the Simpsons says that they're allowed one clip show a year.

Ugh. Sadly I can finally say there is an episode of the Simpsons with no laughs and no redeeming qualities.

At least they apologized for the lame clip show at the end, but if they knew it was bad enough for them to apologize for it, why make it at all?

When I saw it was going to be a clip show I went out and got a sledge hammer for to smash my TV in. Right before I did the dirty deed, I noticed Homer "jumping the shark" in the last few moments.

The end was kinda funny, but I don't think it made up for the rest of the show. I'll only accept their apology if next weeks episode is really good.

It is in the contract...there's a certain amount of new episodes and one clip show (because clip shows don't take as much time and money to make).

Anyway, I welcome any appearance by Kodos and Kang.

Liked the blindfold "other senses becoming stronger, Lisa's depressed."

Not funny? The whole roasting setup was hilarious, as was the begnning with "Forest Plump". I actually burst out laughing at the following:

Grampa Simpson to Agnes Skinner (in J-Lo's Grammy dress): "What's keeping that dress on?"

Sideshow Mel: "The collective will of everyone in this room!"

Come on...that's rich.

It was decent, but not many from me.

I did enjoy seeing the aliens again though. They're always good for a few laughs.

The Aliens are great, especially when they were talking how the world was created 5000 years ago by God.

The Dr. Hibbert - Nelson - Mr. Burns combo was pretty good. As well as Kodos & Kang "stealing" Moe's jokes. Other than that...

I didn't think it was all that bad. Great ending.

Playing the Star Wars' Imperial march when Mr. Burns walks up to the podium was pretty damn funny.

Thought it was a good clip show, I enjoyed it. The Homer song montage cracked me up, esp. the Max Power song.

And of course, the end was hysterical.

I enjoyed the set up stuff enough, but I thought the clips weren't the best they could have used.

At this point they've done enough clip shows that they should have a clip show where they remember the clip shows.

I thought that really sucked, as they did it before in a much better episode.

I agree that the episode was worth it for the song at the end. I busted up when they apologized for the clip show.

I enjoyed it - even as a clip show. I laughed at a ton of stuff ("Stupid sexy Flanders!"). My particular favorite was "Hello Probie" for Maggie. Plus the song at the end was a decent payoff. I'd watch a Robot Marge.

For some reason the idea at the end of "Moe gets a cell phone" had me cracking up. Such a lame concept for an episode but it would probably work as part of a greater plot.

Me too - but only because I just considered this as a way for Moe to receive crank calls WHEREVER he is and not just at the bar!

Oh come folks. How can you not see the clip from Homer skiing and not burst out laughing:

Homer: This is the worst pain I've ever had.

And then of course Flanders in skin-tight spandex and multiple mogel crotch hits.

Funniest clip was the grill one. Nearly fell out of my chair with the "created ...BY GOD" comment, and the "vomiting from our eyes" thing. The Moe gets a cell phone idea was also funny.

Those parts and the NY episode with the club on the front tire had me rolling.

But clips shows are
