Smokey the Bear rip-off: "Only _____ can prevent forest fires.... You have selected you, meaning me, which is wrong."
Homer: "I have powers.... POLITICAL POWERS!!"

I'll second (or third) the "Africa" episode -- I guess I'm more lenient on the Simpsons than others because I still think they turn out some decent episodes even if the "glory days" are past, but that Africa one was just godawful, it started all right but when it got to Africa it was just painful, like a Scooby Doo cartoon or something.

THE WORST EPISODE EVER is the one where bart steals bone storm, only two funny things in that episode. Homer saying "get'm ma" and the sign over the try n save something about in honor of jesus's death, we'll be open on christmas.
Don't forget in the lisa beach episode
Sweet merciful crap. That still gets me.

Africa
I'll fourth (or fifth) that Africa episode. I think I even turned it off. It was so incredibly bad, not one funny line. I don't even think it started well, and went bad.
I also hated that one where they went to Japan.
I will say though, I don't mind the Lisa or Marge ones. Marge cracks me up, and Lisa, well, she's okay. Not as inherently comical, but I think a pretty well-rounded character. I won't say bad things about her.

The absolutely worst episode ever was the one where the real Skinner comes home, as has already been mentioned here. I have a number of favorites, but the Sheri Bobbins one tops my list for some reason. But there are so many more...

Regarding the burns-homer snowed in episode... I laugh myself silly during this episode...also I usually enjoy the lisa episodes she's my favorite character anyhow.
I hated just about every episode last season as well. I'm going to give the next season a go but if the first two or three episodes are horrendous, I'm taking it off my tivo
Aside from last season, I think my least favorite episodes are:
the one where bart has his indian dream sequence
the one about behind the laughter
the one from 2nd season about how homer and marge fell in love

I think the Frank Grimes episode is one of their greatest ever. It really hammers home the point that the Simpson's are not role models, despite the number of people that think they are (both the "moral majority" types, and then the types that just sit at home and think Lisa is the "bad member" of the family)
The Behind the Laughter one was another good one along those lines. Lampooning themselves and VH1. Though my favorite line is the one for the upcoming Huckleberry Hound ep "I was so gay, and I couldn't tell anyone."
And the one with the hobo on the train is worth it just for when Lisa goes off about Paul Bunyon changing size and never fighting Rodan.
As for least favorites, there's a few that seem to get overplayed and I get sick of seeing, like Bart's fake ID. But this was on last nite, and I hadn't seen it in a while, so I thought it was pretty funny.

I swear that my Fox affiliate (WFXT out of Boston) only has one season of episodes left, because they've been playing them relentlessly for the last six months. As a result, the entire '99-'00 season seems to annoy me more every time I watch it, up to and including episodes that I used to enjoy, such as the one where the kids get snowed in the school just before Christmas.
As far as last season, it seems like the show is getting less laugh out loud funny, and more "wait...was that funny? well, it was weird, so I guess it's funny". I also think the creators have heard my please about more Ralph, and it's a case of be careful what you wish for. The "useless Ralph appearance" skyrocketed last season, and it's definitely starting to show. I think the biggest evidence of that is the "Lisa poses as a college student" episode. Of course, even having said all that, I still can't imagine Sunday nights without the show.

Actually I agree with you on the actual flashback sequences, but the stuff in between was pretty good.

Ranger: Riding the chair-lift gives us an eagle eye view of the area... directly beneath the chair-lift.
Marge: There they are! Quick, I want to get off.
Ranger: Oh, we can't do that until we get to the top... and even then it's a little tricky.
The worst Simpsons episode is every single one since the end of season nine.
And the Lisa and Marge episodes are usually among the best.

You can pretty much pick any episode from the last 2-3 seasons and they will suck. I think I will have to go with almost all of the Lisa based episodes suck (Lisa becomes a vegetarian, Lisa becomes a Bhuddist, Lisa becomes a lesbian...).
