Favorite Simpsons Episode of All Time

Mine would have to be "Lemon of Troy" in which some Shelbyville kids steal Springfield's lemon tree, and Bart and the gang have to go get it back.

"Homer the Great" (stonecutters episode) is another one of the best.

Groucho 03-28-02 11:41 AM

Monorail

Interestingly, I once saw an interview with the cast members of the show, and they named this as their least favorite episode!

Gdrlv 03-28-02 11:54 AM

Some of my favorites...

A Streetcar Named Marge
Marge vs. the Monorail
Whacking Day
Homer Goes to College
Deep Space Homer
Homer the Great
King-Size Homer
You Only Move Twice
Homer's Enemy

No way I could keep the list to just one.

MrN 03-28-02 11:54 AM

Homer's Enemy.

It might be a different one tomorrow.

Damfino 03-28-02 12:16 PM

Springfield (Casino gambling is legalized and Mr. Burns turns into Howard Hughes)

CharlesC 03-28-02 12:23 PM

Don't know the official name, but its the one where Homer gets a free trampoline.

"Catch me Jesus!"

twikoff 03-28-02 12:32 PM

nooooooooooooooooo

palebluedot 03-28-02 12:37 PM

Bart The Murder
Flaming Moe's
Mr. Plow

The Lusty Nun 03-28-02 12:44 PM

Don't know the official titles, but my #1 is the Mr. Pinchy episode.

My 2nd fav is the one where Lisa turns vegan...Paul & Linda McCartney guest-starred.

this one is probably my favorite of all. the part at the end with homer and bart running after the pig flying through the air is classic. also, this has maybe the best homer line ever...

homer: you mean you're never going to eat meat again? what about bacon?

lisa: no.

homer: ham?

lisa: no.

homer: pork chops?

lisa: dad, those all come from the same animal.

homer: yeah right lisa, a magical animal.

or something like that. rotfl

grunter 03-28-02 01:32 PM

Definitely "Three Men and a Comic Book" (or whatever the official title is)

"But all I wanted was the Carl Yastremski with the big sideburns."

enthused 03-28-02 01:48 PM

Well, it's not a full episode, but I will count it anyway. Treehouse of Horror VII, where Kang and Kodos run for president. Every single minute of the entire episode is filled with some of the funniest one-liners ever.

Jason 03-28-02 02:10 PM

Homer's Enemy
22 Short Films About Springfield
Homer in Space
The Barbershop Quartet

It's just a little dirty... It's still good, it's still good.....

AmazingColossalPumaMan 03-28-02 02:48 PM

Deep Space Homer - "Hail Ants."
The Be Sharps episode - "OMG, where did you get that brownie?"
The episode where Homer becomes the head of the union - "Hired goons?"

Among others. There are just so many great ones, especially in season 4 (I realize this since one of the local stations is currently in season 4 right now).

slop101 03-28-02 04:28 PM

There are about 10 - 15 episodes where every single joke hits.

I mean that every joke is funny and on the mark, and I still laugh some 8 years and 20 viewings later. That really says something.

Two of these are:
as mentioned before: Deep Space Homer

and

The Trial of Freddy Quimby

The Itchy & Scratchy Movie is up there too

"you better start making sense, or we'll put you in a home."
"you already put me in a home."
"then we'll put in the crooked home we saw on 60 Minutes!"
"i'll be good."

Ya, that was a great one.

I think he called it a "Muttonchop Yaz"

Don't know the official title but it's the one where the whole town turns out for a soccer game, then get so bored that a "soccer riot" breaks out.

I think that's the same episode where Homer wants to buy a gun.

The guy at the gun store tells Homer it's a five day waiting period for the gun.
So Homer says..."Five days!?!, but I'm mad now!"

RoyalTea 03-28-02 05:48 PM

Without even thinking about it, one episode stands out among the rest.

$pringfield (Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Legalized Gambling)

Anyone know the one where Homer and Barney are training for...something...and one of the scenes has them facing off ala the scenes in the Trek episode "The Gamesters of Triskelion", with the music playing in the background too? I don't think I stopped laughing that entire episode. :)

adamblast 03-28-02 06:14 PM

I gotta go with 22 Short Films About Springfield...

As mentioned before, it could be Deep Space Homer, since they were competing, but I don't remember the music. Could it be possible that you're thinking of the Futurama episode where Fry and Zoidberg fight each other in the Amok Time parody? Homer and Barney have faced off a few times, so it's possible...just can't think of any episode with the ST music (nowI want to know though).

Geoff H 03-28-02 11:31 PM

One of my favourites is the episode where Bart gets his pet elephant, Stampy.

thecrazydude 03-29-02 01:23 AM

the one where they flashback and homer was in a beatles type band and their big hit song was "baby on board."
