I don't want to believe it, but I do think that I have read it in more than one story, so I am convinced it is canceled.
Thanks for the link - it does help explain some of the cancellations - like Felicity and Roswell. I was pretty surprised at both of those because I thought they were doing pretty well ratings-wise. But according to the article that's not the only goal - and that makes a lot of sense. Honestly it never occured to me that Felicity could possibly cost so much to make. I still don't like any of it and I'm just as angry as I was before at the loss of some of my favorite shows, but it makes more sense now at least. I guess the syndication dollars didn't justify $1 million per ep to make 16 more eps to get to the magic 100.

I don't think it really explains what's been going on recently. Low ratings and/or high production costs are pretty obvious reasons for cancellation. Why the networks have become so trigger happy lately is the question I want answered. One thing I've never understood is the "Lead-in" factor. NBC, for example, sandwiches a show between two massive hits and then is pissed because the show doesn't maintain the audience. But NBC is the one to blame for trying to stretch two high rated 30 minute shows across a two hour block. When are those idiots going to realize that they're never going to find a show that can maintain the entire Friends audience while going against the second half of Survivor? And if they do find a show that powerful, then it should replace Friends in the 8pm timeslot anyway.

As for the show in question, I hope that there's just some bad information floating around. Not only does this show reach a large audience (and a broad demographics), but it's also good quality. There aren't many shows you can sit down and watch with your family, and I think the networks are shooting themselves in the foot by moving away from that.

I agree with the sentiment that low ratings and/or high prod costs = cancellation. My point, which I guess I didn't make clear was that it never occured to me that a show like Felicity would have high prod costs. And since the ratings were ok...it made no sense to me to cancel it. But if the way ads work is that a certain number of viewers is guaranteed or the network must shell out bucks, then even if ratings are "good" it doesn't matter - it only matters if they meet the threshold set by the ad agreement. And of course someone out there is setting unreasonable goals for both the ad viewership and for the lead in factor you mentioned. I too think that it is ridiculous to expect people to want to watch all 3 hours of Thurs on nbc to an equal degree, especially given the competition.

I do not believe it was cancelled. I read that original article a couple of times and, although it appeared they were stating the cancellation, I think they were only talking about the Monday night showing.

That's what I had heard too. I think the Wednesday show is still on.

Best line from George Lopez ...

Lopez (about his daughter): Why does she need to learn to swim? We're already here!
