Thanks for the link - it does help explain some of the cancellations - like Felicity and Roswell. I was pretty surprised at both of those because I thought they were doing pretty well ratings-wise. But according to the article that's not the only goal - and that makes a lot of sense. Honestly it never occured to me that Felicity could possibly cost so much to make. I still don't like any of it and I'm just as angry as I was before at the loss of some of my favorite shows, but it makes more sense now at least. I guess the syndication dollars didn't justify $1 million per ep to make 16 more eps to get to the magic 100.

As for the show in question, I hope that there's just some bad information floating around. Not only does this show reach a large audience (and a broad demographics), but it's also good quality. There aren't many shows you can sit down and watch with your family, and I think the networks are shooting themselves in the foot by moving away from that.

was that it never occured to me that a show like Felicity would have high prod costs. And since the ratings were ok...it made no sense to me to cancel it. But if the way ads work is that a certain number of viewers is guaranteed or the network must shell out bucks, then even if ratings are "good" it doesn't matter - it only matters if they meet the threshold set by the ad agreement. And of course someone out there is setting unreasonable goals for both the ad viewership and for the lead in factor you mentioned. I too think that it is ridiculous to expect people to want to watch all 3 hours of Thurs on nbc to an equal degree, especially given the competition.

I do not believe it was cancelled. I read that original article a couple of times and, although it appeared they were stating the cancellation, I think they were only talking about the Monday night showing.
