Not many people are watching it, but it's a damn_good show, especially those first few episodes.

Premise is simple: Kim Delaney is a defense attorney. In the first episode her partner has a nervous breakdown, and she ends up teaming with a pretty aggressive and manipulative public defender (Tom Everett Scott). Her ex-husband is the current DA (Kyle Secor), and they have a kid. And her prime adversary for most cases is Rick Hoffman, an ADA.

The show started to give lots of balance between her personal and professional lives, but with the recent retooling, there's been less about her son and more about her romance with one of the judges. It essentially focuses around the fact that her life revolves around her work (and the same is true for everyone else around her). She's a noble character, but not unbelievably, and it's not sensationalist like The Practice.

The last few episodes haven't been as stellar as the first ones, but I still think it's the best new drama this season. Hope that helps. Definitely worth checking out.

And they do an amazing job replicating the interior of Philly's city hall!

I couldn't agree more. The Practice actually was a great show in its first season and a half or so and then just got so outlandish and stupid.

Philly is a very good show. I certainly hope it gets renewed.
