Indy on AMC

If anybody wants to know, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom have been showing on AMC all weekend long (I think they might show again tonight). Oh, and one of the best things is that there only seems to be one commercial break for each movie. I watched it a good 45 mins to an hour without seeing a commercial this evening...

I watched Raiders yesterday. I was pissed that it wasn't OAR (and what really sucks is that they showed the opening credits in WS, so I really got my hopes up) What's kinda strange is that Sci-Fi showed Last Crusade last night, and they showed it in WS. You would think that a station devoted to movies like AMC would show more of them in OAR. Oh well, I guess that's why we have DVDs.

Actually, I can't stand AMC. The constantly edit their movies and bleep the swearing. I am not sure about sexual content but if they bleep the swearing, I am sure the edit out sex scenes. Also their choice of what movies are classics can be up for debate. I prefer TCM much more. Tyey show movies in widescreen whenever possible and there are no commercial breaks. Also they leave in the swear words and I don't know about nudity because I haven't seen a film with nudity on the station yet.

I watched a little of Temple of Doom, but it was pan and scan. If I hadn't seen the movie before, I wouldn't have known that there was a character named "Short Round"!

I didn't realize that AMC edited movies...that's bad news.

They do edit language, but they don't beep, they mute the word instead (which ultimate, if you're going to do it, is much less intrusive)

As for editing (of violence) this is something that's only becoming more of an issue lately. AMC has obviously strecthed their definition of "classic" and started more recent flicks. Most of there old movie don't suffer any editing since by today standards, there isn't anything to edit.

Yeah the quality of AMC has dropped considerably lately. Bravo is the worst, with commercial breaks every 10 minutes or so.

Well I found out by accident why AMC has went down the tubes so to say. I was looking for a bio on an actress and she had been on AMC "remember wenn" and it said that all original programming had been canceled when Ted Turner bought AMC. So I see now why the fullscreen movies are on there maybe we should start mass e-mail's to the staff or ol Ted himself.
