The Simpsons (2/24)

Well, that string of good episodes was bound to end at some point. I actually can't even remember a single funny line from this episode. Your thoughts???

hotaru_san 02-24-02 07:31 PM

I thought it was fairly funny, but it didn't come close to being as good as the last few episodes.

ClarkKentKY 02-24-02 07:47 PM

You beat me to it.. This episode was... i hate to say it -- Bad.

Never got me to fully laugh, i half-laughed at maybe two things.

:(

Maybe next week will be better.

Smidget 02-24-02 08:21 PM

2 Things that made me laugh during the episode:

"I am tired of this Tarzan movie!" "Dad, this is a documentary on homeless people."

and

the Ostrich being alive and all the other animals being stuffed, poking Bart and "hehe"ing on the way out

But other than that, pretty bad episode.

The Cow 02-24-02 08:23 PM

New episode was nothing special... but at least we get 2 tonight (re-run is decent)...

I also thought this was a funny line. For some reason Krusty getting shot also made me laugh. Pretty forgetable episode though.

Everyone forgot Ralph lying there going

"I'm a gulch."

And him making Milhouse his bitch and telling him to be quiet.

JuryDuty 02-24-02 10:05 PM

Marge: Well, Homie, it looks like there's no hair-brained adventure for you this week.
Homer: You just wait...

But there wasn't. And this episode sucked! Here's hoping next week's is gonna be better.

The Milhouse/Ralph exchange was classic Ralph.

SnoopDogg 02-24-02 10:22 PM

The repeat was pretty good I thought, when homer screamed for like a minute straight, had me rolling.

MrN 02-24-02 10:54 PM

And I thought I was gonna get reamed for saying the Dog subplot was unfunny and out of place.

The rest was stuff they'd already done already.

We need more Ralph!!

Ok what was that all about. It had to reference some movie or book. I say this because Bart says, "eat my short stories," and then there is a shot of a torn page saying "the end??"

does anyone know?

I don't know what that particularly short story had to do with the dog subplot but that short story is called 'The Lottery'. It's pretty cool.

"I am tired of this Tarzan movie!"

I'm sure pure coincidence, but Disney's Tarzan was actually on opposite The Simpsons over on ABC.

I thought the episode was fair, but I did appreciate a guest voice that wasn't a big, pop culture name and an interesting character as well. If it wasn't for him stating, "Dont' bother me again, Bart" as he rode off into the sunset, I would have hoped to see him come back later on down the road.

suziq999 02-25-02 01:46 PM

It seemed like they had 2 episodes going at once - one with the crazed psycho dog and one with the cowboy guy. It was really odd and hard to follow. Admittedly funny in parts, but disjointed. :( :( :(

Jeremy517 02-25-02 02:38 PM

I loved the Ralph lines, but the rest of it was bleh.

Worst. Episode. Ever.

Well, somewhere in the top 10 worst anyways.

Are you serious?! You obviously havn't seen that many episodes. This was definately NOT one of the top ten worst.

I hate to say it, but I think I might agree with you (about it being in the top 10 worst). And I have seen every episode many, many times each. I even thought the Ralph lines were not up to par and him telling Milhouse to be quiet seemed out of character, though perhaps moderately funny.

Actually, I'm a little embarassed to admit this, but I've seen every episode many times. And about 99% of them on their first run.

There are many episodes (seasons 4 & 5) that I can quote verbatim, line for line - pathetic, I know.

Therefore, I know what I'm talking about and yes this last episode was even worse than most of the episodes from season 1.

At least back then they were fresh.

twikoff 02-25-02 06:15 PM

i didnt think it was that bad.. a couple parts made me laugh.. but it wasnt up to the quality of most of the other eps so far this season

but outside of that.. something else seemed very different about this one.. or was it just my imagination.. something just didnt seem right

Deftones 02-25-02 06:19 PM

I can honestly say that I don't think I laughed while watching this episode. :( Such a letdown after the past several weeks w/ good episodes.

You know, I was thinking the exact same thing. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there was definitely something different about the feel of the episode. Whatever it was, though, it wasn't good.

Arcade 02-25-02 06:58 PM

It was not the worst ever but not many hard laughs either.
The best line by far was Ralph with his "I'm a Gulch".
