Why is it that NBC has to air this movie in 2 parts? I know that "The Ten Commandments"(which is a little bitter longer as it's on 2 DVD's) is always shown in one night. Too bad it's not even widescreen? Anybody here watching it? Where did they leave on Sunday Night? Why air such a sad and depressing movie at this time of year? Sad because a lot of people died when the Titanic sunk and froze in the waters.
Was this some big shot's idea at NBC for something that 's a holiday movie?I'd rather watch "It's a Wonderful Life " over this at this time of year.

Won't be watching. Hated that movie. The only thing good about it were the EFX. Thought the rest of it sucked beyond words. Probably because of DeCaprio. Should have cast that role to a man and not a boy.

Funny, I thought Dicaprio's character was the only one that wasn't a completely one dimensional cardboard cut-out. Oh well, the movie as a whole still sucked.
It was originally released in theaters at Christmas time, IIRC.

I have no problem with the film. It wasn't Best Picture for the year, but it's a decent movie with excellent effects. No real problems with it other than annoying hype.
As for why they show the movie that way, it's because they're scumbags. They know that they can show half of it on one night, and force you into watching it the next night, while showing an ungodly amount of commercials. It's like those annoying mini-series EVENTS they do every few months. I typically don't watch these kinds of things for that very reason, but for the general public, this helps make up the minds of indecisive Monday night viewers. "Well, Cletus ... we watched part one ... might as well watch part two, ya reckon?"
