Matthew Perry's weight
When I started watching "Friends" this season, I was a little shocked by Matthew Perry's weight gain. But then as it increased
week by week, I grew concerned. Now, I read on IMDB that
one of the writers wrote a line in an upcoming script about his
expanding waste line and Perry threw a star temper tantrum
demanding they remove the remark. Which they did. But Perry
was told by the producers to lose the weight (!!) Wow, what are
your thoughts on that? You'd think at $750,000 per episode
he could get a really good nutritionist and trainer.

Yeah, you'd also think that Robert Downey Jr. could get help and stay off the crack. Matthew Perry's addicted to eating. I am kind of surprised that there's no personal appearance clause in Perry's contract. I'm waiting for them to replace him with Luke Perry.

Perry's fluctuating weight issues throughout the run of Friends are a direct result of his infamous substance abuse issues.
I would hope that the producers of the show would allow him to look any way he damn well pleases as long as he stops abusing alcohol and prescription drugs. If he's overweight, at least he can still get in front of the camera and crack wise. If he's in rehab, they've lost him.
Anyway, that's what I would be concerned about if I ran the show, not the fact that he's packed on some extra pounds (which -- *gasp* -- sometimes actually happens to people in their mid-30s, even trendy Friends stars).

Hey, personally I could care less what he looks like as long as he makes me laugh. Which he does. But last week when Courtney Cox hugged him in a scene, she could barely get her arms around him. Sure, people in their 30's gain some weight. This much, this fast, is NOT healthy though.
Can you imagine if one of the girls on the show gained this weight?

Er, I hope you're not implying I think he's a great actor or anything. He's pretty good in this role. But that's about it.
I suspect he'll be one of "Friends" you won't see too much
of after the show ends.

Like most sit-com stars, he's not an actor, he's a character. He IS Chandler Bing, so all he has to do is show up and be himself. Matt LeBlanc will leave the show and have great success, but Perry will be a Hollywood Square within 2 years.

I think he looks better with the extra weight then how he looked before when the drugs turned him into a scarecrow. Yes, he has a problem, many addicts trade one dependancy for another. Better food than drugs but you would think he would have people watching every move he makes and telling him when he goes too far.

Mathew Perry Bullied by Kids
(World Entertainment News Network)
FRIENDS star MATHEW PERRY quit a children's badminton tournament he was umpiring because of the kids' constant taunting.
Perry had offered to umpire the tournament as a favor for a friend, but the children proved to be more of a handful than he had bargained for.
The kids taunted the actor about his recent stay in a rehab clinic and called him a "fat ass" and "druggie".
Eventually the taunting became too much and Perry stormed out shouting "I can't take this!"
A FRIENDS spokesman said that the star was upset by the ungrateful children because, "he was trying to give something back to the community."
