Favorite season of The Sopranos?

It's hard to choose, but I'm gonna' go with season two. Not sure exactly why, but when I look at them as a whole, I think the second season had the best writing.

Season 1 for me.

I know we still got character development in seasons two and three, but I think the best writing, acting, etc. was in season 1.

A lot of the story lines in season 2 were not as good as season 1 as a whole.

For example.

Going to Italy....I know we had to get Furio somehow, but this way? And to sell cars at that?????

And all the episodes that dealt with Christophers script and acting. To me that storyline just didn't flow.

In season 1 we got a glimpse of this story, but that was all I needed. He wanted to get his script read...so what?

Not saying season 2 was bad.....the season had some great episodes...
Especially HOUSE ARREST (Uncle Junior is funny as hell) The KNIGHT IN WHITE SATIN ARMOR and the finale FUNHOUSE.

I'm in the middle of season 2 right now. The last episode I saw was
Spoiler:
Tony and Big ***** whacking the kid from A Bronx Tale for trying to kill Christopher.

The trip to Italy was the weakest episode I've seen so far and the whole sidebar with Paulie obsessing over death and going to a psychic in another episode was lame too.

Charlie: But that episode has Paulie asying some of the funniest stuff from the whole show. His description of Purgatory is priceless.

I'd have to go with season one...slightly better than two.

Season 1 was my favorite, followed by season 3.
