When I get a new Dish Network tomorrow, what happens with my Cable?
Not my cable provider, but my actual cable coming into my house. Does that still get attached to my VCR/TV??
How exactly does the dish work? Does it just transmit a signal to my receiver box near my TV or are there cords/wires/cables involved?
I want to know what the typical setup is: i.e., cable->VCR->cable out->TV.
Thanks...I basically want to know what I should do with my old cable cables, how to connect the VCR, how the dish connects to my TV, etc.
Thanks.

Satellite cable -> Dishtv reciever
Dishtv reciever cables -> tv/vcr/whatever (usually has 2 outs, so 1 for tv, 1 for tivo/vcr)

So when this guy comes to install it, he'll need to drill 4 new holes for all 4 TV's I need a receiver with? Okay, that's fine.
So what happens to my old cable coming in? He just throws it out?
Also, I don't have to run a cable from my VCR to my TV with this? B/C I can run the cables out from the dish receiver?
Thanks

From: Mayberry, NC. Really, it is
How many Dish receivers do you have and what models are they ?
Did you drop cable service completely or keep lifeline service for local channels ?
Does each TV also have a VCR ?
Do you have a phone jack near each receiver ?
Nosy, aint I ?
Do NOT allow the installer to use the cable company wiring from the dish to the receiver unless it is RG-6 cable (not likely); make sure he wires it correctly, with grounding.
If you are getting the free standard installation, he will only connect the main receiver free - the rest will cost extra. Also, any connections to your VCR's or TV's beyond an RF cable (stereo audio/video cables, S-video, Dolby Digital) will also not be included, and you would probably be better off doing these yourself anyway.
