Re-dubbed line in Simpsons

Was watching the "Party Posse" episode of Simpsons today. At the beginning, there is a marathon and Smithers is pulling Mr. Burns in a rickshaw. Originally, Burns said "Pull faster, rickshaw driver! You call yourself a Chinaman?" Today he said, "you call yourself Chinese?" It sounded like a re-dub from the original voice actor.

Have they done this before? I think the line was funnier originally as it suits Burns' personality and history (ie, use of out-of-date terminology).

Yes, do it a lot for syndication. The most obvious example for me was the Hullapalooza episode. They cut out Homer explaining how to say the word "JIVE", along with a part where Otto's shoes talk to him.

Well, there's a difference between a redub and a cut for time...

I don't know why they'd change that, Chinaman suits Burns far better and it's funnier
