Yikes! More of the same.
I don't watch TV programs much, mostly news on Fox, but I saw a brief bit of an Enterprise episode which must have been a comedy. A guy with a baby bud growing out of his side was overly concerned about his manly image among his shipmates. Operation Petticoat Goo.
But I recorded tonight's episode while I was busy handing out candy to the kids in the hood. Svhs is at the top of the analog heap, Betacams aside. But the focus is soft, except for the effects and the guy playing the lead, Scott Bakula (sp?), is having some trouble shedding his comic heritage. When in doubt, mug it out.
Apart from the opening music, the orchestrations were the droning, tepid pabulum that dogged NG after Ron Jones was let go because he was too dramatic for the producer's tastes. Jones dug his own demise with the perilous, building construction that ended the first episode of the Best of Both Worlds. "Too much Ron Jones" was a common refrain before he was canned. Rob Bowman, I believe, directed some of the best NG episodes that were stylish with excellent cinematography. He was drummed out and fled to the X-files.
I hope they get their **** together.
