Friendly Reminder: TNG Marthon on TNN - Monday (10/1/01)

Like you haven't been preparing for this all year, but just in case, they've revised the schedule a bit.

They're now airing movies from 9am to 7pm, then the "America Loves ... Star Trek" special, then Farpoint Part 1 at 8pm, RAW at 9pm (which is listed to have Star Trek references) and Farpoint Part II at 11pm. This is a change from the previously released schedule.

Anyway, I'll post the whole thing so you can prepare. Mankind has had few moments as great as this one ... don't be late

So for someone who may want to record a handful of these, which would you recommend? Which ones are the must-sees for any self respecting trek fan? Is Yesterday's Enterprise the one where they go back to TOS time and you get Worf's "We don't discuss such things" line?

Got 'em all on tape the first time around, so I won't be watching (often) ...well, 'cept maybe that "America Loves STAR TREK" documentary...

belboz, that's a DEEP SPACE NINE episode called "Trials and Tribble-ations"

I would record (at bare minimum) "Encounter at Farpoint", "Yesterday's Enterprise", "The Best of Both Worlds, Parts I and II", "Family", "Inner Light", "Unification, Parts I and II", "Relics", all Q episodes and "All Good Things..."--remember, that's at bare minimum...

This is a very good list ... like he said, bare minimum ... but a perfect start. I would also say you kind of need "Skin of Evil", but while it's an important episode, it's also a bad episode, and consequently isn't in this marathon.

I'd add "Chain of Command, Parts I and II" to that list of "MUST SEE" episodes and "Tapestry" which is a Q episode without "Q" in the title.

Past that, I'd consider the following episodes good second tier selections good for continuity and following important topics in the series.

"I, Borg", "Darmok", and "The Measure of a Man"

"Redemption, Parts I and II" for the Sela background.

If you like Barclay:

Hollow Pursuits
Nth Degree
Realm of Fear
Ship in a Bottle
Genesis

Data/Lore stuff:

Datalore
Brothers
Birthright, Parts I and II
Descent, Parts I and II

I'm getting carried away ... suffice to say, you'd be in very good hands if you stuck to that first list wit my two additions.

Thanks a bunch guys. That's exactly what I wanted. I'll have to clear a bit of space on the Tivo, but I should be able to get all the ones you've listed. (thank you hard drive upgrade hackers)

I've seen every episode of TOS and I've always considered myself a trek fan, but until recently I was never able to watch the newer shows with any kind of regularity. It sort of sucks reading all these trek threads and not knowing what everybody is talking about.

For the record, I was including "Tapestry" in my list--I said all Q episodes, not all episodes with "Q" in the title...

And, yes, I strongly considered adding "Chains of Command" to the list, but feel it's more notable for its powerhouse performances than its contribution to TREK lore, so let it slide from the "bare minimum" list. Phenomenal, heart-wrenching acting in that one--though I don't think it picked one up (or was probably even nominated), "Chains of Command" had Emmy written all over it...

I will miss some of this. New shows on TV and Buffy's that I haven't seen. Had I known sooner, I would have taken the week off.

Well ... duh ... but I don't think our new friend would have quickly picked up that it's a Q episode
