ANGEL in WIDESCREEN!!!!!
does anyone else think that this is cool or what? I know alot of people will probably complain about this but I am glad that widescreen is starting to be pushed on tv. I just hope that this doesn't affect the ratings any.

This certainly was a pleasant surprise. I don't know if it's subconscious thing, but it also seems that the show is using better film stock annd has better cinematography/editing. Well, not for the fight scenes. I'm not really a fan of their "cut between punches" technique.

I think it's kind of ironic that it's on the WB, when it's Warner giving us all the trouble with non-widescreen DVD releases. Whatever, I'm all for it.
Great show, too.

ANGEL is actually produced by FOX so that could be the reason. Now I wonder if BUFFY will also be in widescreen? Same studio. Now if we can only get these shows on DVD I would be a happy camper.

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
I thought it was great. My friend, Fred was over and said widescreen. Schweeeeet!
Awesome episode by the way. What did you guys think? I loved the whole bath scene with Cordy and Phantom Dennis. I also have to say I knew that they would be dealing with her headaches, I just didn't expect them to get right to it. Wow!
And Darla -- PREGNANT????? This raises all kinds of questions, not to mention other things....

That was the first thing I noticed about two second in...then Cordy's fun bags.
But anyway, it's strange because right after I watched Angel I checked out the premiere of Crossing Jordan on NBC and it was also presented in widescreen!
Wonder who's next to go wide.

Well, I thought it was really weak. Loved the widescreen, but the writing last night was limp, except when dealing with the Buffy mess, and the fights were horribly executed. But, I think any season opener that doesnt have a big cliffhanger/to be continued as a lead in usually suffers~ like the obvious wrapping up the loose ends/refreshing the viewer dialouge during the opening scene last night.
crankyman, as far as Fred being a victim, well they kind of spoiled it a little in the commercials for this season...they show Fred doing the "cool walk" with the group (you know, like how the premire closed), so obviously she gets over her fears and begins to contribute.

I think the show is making up its own vampire mythology, much like Anne Rice did with her books.
SPOILERS
About the cliffhanger - It was a big surprise but what's the questions? Angel is the father right - he was human the last time he slept with Darla? Is my memory going?

So-- Lindsay's baby or Angel's baby? Inquiring minds want to know! I'm rooting for the return of Lindsay, but I hope it's Angel's...
Do vamps give birth to vamp babies?? This mythology is getting wierd in a hurry...

back to the original topic: lets hope that being in widescreen doesn't affect the ratings(chase away some viewers) as last nights premiere was not as good as last year and was even beat by Roswell in the ratings(from last year in the same time slot). Not a good sign for sure.

Like I said, they're making up the mythology as they go.
Like in this episode, take out a vampire's heart and he becomes invincible for 6 hours?

I thought Buffy was in widescreen for a couple of seasons now?
I didn't even think about Lindsay being the Father. That could have been who was tracked down.
It was a good show it will get better when the WB cancels it and it also moves to UPN. Bigger budget hopefully means better crossover episodes with Buffy.
No I haven't heard that the WB is going to cancel it but I imagine when it is time to renew that they will jack the price like they did with Buffy just to get them on the same network again. Besides I think that Buffy will bring lots of viewers to UPN.

Both Darla and Angel were vamps when the did the wild thing.
I also hope that the widescreen doesn't chase away viewers as well. I like the show and I like it widescreen.

Okay, finally I can contribute my two cents worth to Angel. I don't get it until Tuesday at 10pm because of the WB and UPN sharing the same channel.
WOW!!!! I love the opening scenes. At first I thought they would not mention Buffy because of the network switch but...I was wrong as usual. And Darla being pregnant...who is the father. I know it was stated before but I will say it again, Angel was a vampire when he did the bump and grind with her. He is a vampire with a soul. Where is Dru? I think she my favorite vampire from the Angel/Buffy shows. And didn't Linsday drive off into the night last season?

Timber - they showed previews the week before when they showed the season ender from last season. It was in the TV guide as well.
I will take nothing for granted as far as Darla's baby goes. You never know with Joss. Could be Angel's or someone elses. It will be interesting to see.

Do they just want this show ot do bad? I mean Monday night at 9 is an awful time for any T.V. show, up againt Raw and MNF. It's already hard enough trying to watch both of them. Guess I'll have to use the VCR. Can't see this show not getting canceled by WB this season which won't be a bad thing.
