you're kidding right?

She's sending two VERY different messages.

I would prefer that she choose to be a NON-VIRGIN so her image fits the stage show.

But we all know what the deal is with her so she's only fooling little 12 year old girls about the "VIRGIN" thing......

Alvis 09-06-01 10:26 PM

Just saw her performance. What can I say? That was very.....BAD! The song wasn't even catchy. The only way that piece of tripe will make the top 10 is with millions of dollars in record company promotions. By the way, could it have been any more evident that she was lip synching?

cartman 09-06-01 10:27 PM

I just don't see the appeal of her at all. She was wearing a mike for no reason, her dancing looks very forced, ie not fluid (michael jackson is the epitome of fluid), her voice isn't anything really distinguishable from a LOT of other females, and while she gets a lot of cover for her looks, they aren't anything I don't see every day from non famous people.

ClarkKentKY 09-06-01 10:32 PM

You know.. according to what she told me the other night that's only the Second biggest snake she's ever seen. *rimshot*

Well, that whole show sucked a big one... i'd like to NOT thank the producers of TRL .. who apparently think they can produce award shows too. Good job.

(About Britney's chastity... It's all a matter of her faith... But love does things to a person. More power to her if she still is. If she isn't, hey at least they seem to be in love, so good for them.)

ClarkKentKY 09-06-01 10:33 PM

Oh by the way... Does anyone else think Triumph and will ferrell were the only GOOD parts of the show??

I missed the beginning of the show, so I didn't see him except for the little clip at the end, and had to immediately put my HIStory DVD in. Whatever is said about him, he's still one of the three living people (not just musicians) I would really like to see some day, and when I do, I will most likely be a blithering idiot, which I NEVER do toward famous people.

edited to add: His 1995 VMA performance is just so frickin amazing. They should have had him do something like that again.

Chad 09-06-01 11:02 PM

Damn ...Bring back Chris Rock next year!

demonio 09-06-01 11:03 PM

the show definatly sucked, its probably the worst VMA show I've seen......none of the live performances were very good.....

God please let this hip hop crap die off soon!!

I know! That DVD is the uncontested #1 most played DVD of mine, largely because of that performance. I remember a thread that said 'he hasn't had any original dancing since thriller' or something, and I just rolled my eyes and thought about that performance when I read that.

Iron Chef 09-06-01 11:08 PM

Maybe I'm getting old, or maybe it's because I have a degree in German and know a hell of a lot about English grammar, but I understood little or none of what many of the presenters were saying because they had lost all command of the English language. What is with people dropping the letters t and h from words?

Overall, I thought the show sucked. I haven't heard of 1/2 of the performers, but I liked the dog bit - especially when he was talking to Ms Lopez, and I also loved the Ben Stiller and the TenaciousD bits.

Could Britney's lip synching have been any worse?

El Scorcho 09-06-01 11:10 PM

Mainstream garbage, that's all this whole network is now.

U2, Alicia Keys and Staind were pretty good.

Here's a question for you, was he waving Slash off the stage, or was he waving at the guy coming to get Slash, to get him to leave him alone? I always thought he was letting Slash stay, but have never been sure.

Triumph was the best part. I loved his performance on TV funhouse.

Dr. DVD 09-06-01 11:13 PM

Well, after viewing the lackluster show I might as well put the finishing touches on the thread I started.

While MJ's short performance was a disappointment in terms of length, it was still great to watch. Also, while a shame to see him with N Sync, it was pure genius to have him appear with them when one looks at it from a PR standpoint.

Brittney once again confirms that you don't have to lose your viriginity to become a slut. That top she had made her chest rather apparent, and you could see some nipple. That snake looked rather aroused like it would bite her at any moment.

Overall a total bullcrap waste of show. I liked Julia Stiles in her tight little dance outfit, but having Chris Kattan with her ruined the whole thing. MTV is nothing more than one big long record ad now. No sense of art or expression, just show me the money! Also, while it was good to see Mick Jagger at the end, you could tell he was only out there to make the show seem legit in terms of quality music.

yeah, they were alright......U2's power outtage thing must have pissed them off.

All I'm talking about is when they have these shows they should have a little bit of variety in them.

The only hard rock/alternative stuff I actually caught on the show was Linkin Park, U2 and roughly Staind. Us Metalheads need more than that, come on.

instead of Michael Jackson appearing with NSync, they should have had Motorhead explode from the back and beat the crap out of those punks.....ugh wait, I'm dreaming...pinch me.

Venusian 09-06-01 11:22 PM

didn't watch all of it, but have it on TIVO ( i think). I saw the Michael jackson thing...pretty good. Anything else worth seeing?

Turbo2 09-06-01 11:43 PM

Ok and what about the Ramones coming out during U2's speech... I really like old punk and I was laughing it up seeing all those dumb kids clap when they came out. 3/4's of that crowd had never heard of them.... gaurenteed.

Just the guy from the Backstreet Boys getting hit in the head by a bottle of malt liquor thrown by Kid Rock...after which he drunk the entire bottle after waking up from his concussion. :yack:
