Do you like the Simpsons?
#1
I love it and most of my friends love it back home, but here in Texas most people I talk to don't. Is it a regional thing? Do you like the Simpsons? Whats your age (or age group if you dont wanna get too specific) and where do you live?

Hate it. Used to watch it the first year, but I was younger then and it was just "different" to see a primetime cartoon.
I think the show's fanbase has gotten pretty ridiculous and treat it like a real town with real people... the "virtual Springfield" CDROM is just a waste.
Everyone I know who likes this show is a comicbook or tech geek.
Don't make fun of Trekkies, you think-you're-hip-and-edgy Simpson fans, you're right there with 'em!
Now change the channel and go back to playing Advanced Dungeons & Dragons.

I still watch the sindicated older episodes but the new ones are losing their edge (with a few exceptions). I would say it is on the downward slide but my still have another season left before collapse.

Yes. I think I've seen every single episode(honestly). I'm 20, in CT.

The Simpsons is terrific satire of stereotypical American nuclear family life. I love it. It's, franky, the best show on television after The Sopranos. One of my favorite episodes is the one where Homer goes to the chili festival and stars hallucinating. I was literally on the floor during that one.
I live in Finland and I'm 17. And before you ask, no, it's not dubbed!

I don't think it's the best show ever, but no cartoon series has ever been as consistantly witty, and worked on so many different humor levels at once.
That said, I stopped really caring a couple years back. I still catch it from time to time. I don't watch any shows in daily syndication, but if I did, it would probably be The Simpsons.

Entertainment Weekly a few years back did a ranking of the 50 best television shows of all time, and lo and behold, The Simpsons was #1.
I'd agree with them. It's the only TV series I'd buy on DVD regardless of the price/features/whatever without question.
Edited to add my vitals: male, 23, Chicago

Considering I'm nicknamed after one of the characters, I'd have to say yes, I enjoy the Simpsons from time to time.
And actually, re: the poster who said all people that like the show are comic nerds or tech geeks, well, there must be a lot of them because I don't know anyone that doesn't like and watch the Simpsons from time to time. Admittedly, I am a tech geek and know many other tech geeks, but even the non-geeks I know love the show.

When you consider I've been watching the show since it first came on in 88 or 89 on a weekly basis and watching one or two episodes of the reruns daily during the week, it's not entirely hard to see every episode. Yes I do have a life. After all, you've got 3000+ posts on DVDTalk. Isn't it a bit like the pot calling the kettle black?
