I love it and most of my friends love it back home, but here in Texas most people I talk to don't. Is it a regional thing? Do you like the Simpsons? Whats your age (or age group if you dont wanna get too specific) and where do you live?

twikoff 06-11-01 10:26 AM

Im in Georgia, 25.. and love simpsons.. everyday 6-7pm and every sunday night..

I dont collect toys, but Ive got all the playmate interactive figures of em..

Kevin H 06-11-01 10:28 AM

I don't like the Simpsons..

I love the Simpsons! oooh!

I'm almost 18..I'm from Massachusetts

GuessWho 06-11-01 10:29 AM

Hate it. Used to watch it the first year, but I was younger then and it was just "different" to see a primetime cartoon.

I think the show's fanbase has gotten pretty ridiculous and treat it like a real town with real people... the "virtual Springfield" CDROM is just a waste.

Everyone I know who likes this show is a comicbook or tech geek.

Don't make fun of Trekkies, you think-you're-hip-and-edgy Simpson fans, you're right there with 'em!

Now change the channel and go back to playing Advanced Dungeons & Dragons.

Use to watch it years ago when it first came on... don't really watch anything these days.

TV: *yawn*

Admittedly, the first season, while humerous in spots, doesn't hold a candle to the later seasons. If you haven't watched since the first season, you really owe it to yourself to check out a few of the syndicated episodes. You may change your mind.

nizzo 06-11-01 10:38 AM

YES

Though the past few years, the show is not as good as it used to be. The re-runs are the best.

TheyCallHimJim 06-11-01 10:56 AM

Ayup. One of the few programs on TV that I actually make an effort to see on a regular basis (the others being Buffy, Angel and Dragon Ball Z :D )

Hokuto72 06-11-01 10:59 AM

I still watch the sindicated older episodes but the new ones are losing their edge (with a few exceptions). I would say it is on the downward slide but my still have another season left before collapse.

oh, yeah...28 in Oregon

Mitsurugi 06-11-01 11:13 AM

Me like

almost 19

Cardiff Giant11 06-11-01 11:23 AM

Yes. I think I've seen every single episode(honestly). I'm 20, in CT.

Geofferson 06-11-01 11:39 AM

Yes, it's only the best show to EVER be on TV.

we need simpsons dvds!!!

Glooty-Us-Maximus 06-11-01 11:48 AM

The new season (12) is pretty much suck IMO...only a few amusing moments...

Family Guy, on the other hand...now THATS a funny show!

Tyler_Durden 06-11-01 11:53 AM

The Simpsons is terrific satire of stereotypical American nuclear family life. I love it. It's, franky, the best show on television after The Sopranos. One of my favorite episodes is the one where Homer goes to the chili festival and stars hallucinating. I was literally on the floor during that one.

I live in Finland and I'm 17. And before you ask, no, it's not dubbed!

wasnt family guy cancelled?

Da Thrilla 06-11-01 12:29 PM

almost 18, in Minnesota, and love the Simpsons, on 5-6 every night on FOX

I also likes The Family Guy...too bad it was cancelled :(

adamblast 06-11-01 12:44 PM

I don't think it's the best show ever, but no cartoon series has ever been as consistantly witty, and worked on so many different humor levels at once.

That said, I stopped really caring a couple years back. I still catch it from time to time. I don't watch any shows in daily syndication, but if I did, it would probably be The Simpsons.

I don't like the SimpsonsIf it has to be in that genre...I like Futurama better...but it still isn't great

rabbit77 06-11-01 01:19 PM

Entertainment Weekly a few years back did a ranking of the 50 best television shows of all time, and lo and behold, The Simpsons was #1.

I'd agree with them. It's the only TV series I'd buy on DVD regardless of the price/features/whatever without question.

Edited to add my vitals: male, 23, Chicago

Considering I'm nicknamed after one of the characters, I'd have to say yes, I enjoy the Simpsons from time to time.

And actually, re: the poster who said all people that like the show are comic nerds or tech geeks, well, there must be a lot of them because I don't know anyone that doesn't like and watch the Simpsons from time to time. Admittedly, I am a tech geek and know many other tech geeks, but even the non-geeks I know love the show.

Umm i think it was cancelled, but then i heard that Fox is going to show the 3rd season this summer...

edclem 06-11-01 02:01 PM

My favorite animated series of all time.
:)

-also, I grew up in TX, so disliking the Simpsons is not necessarily a regional thing

Ha ha really funny -rolleyes- When you consider I've been watching the show since it first came on in 88 or 89 on a weekly basis and watching one or two episodes of the reruns daily during the week, it's not entirely hard to see every episode. Yes I do have a life. After all, you've got 3000+ posts on DVDTalk. Isn't it a bit like the pot calling the kettle black? ;)
