Go is also the first thing I thought of while watching the show.

My favorite part:

"Oh, it loves beer!!" - Homer

What a great surprise for a Sunday night. I laughed all the way through that episode. The whole "Go", "Run Lola Run" setup was just hilarious. Working in television, my favorite line was Krusty's
"don't hit the girl, she's in our demographic"
I also work in TV and that line had me rolling on the floor too.

Does anyone else think that it is absolutely amazing that a show as popular as the Simpsons would spoof a foreign film that barely anyone in the US (excluding us DVD Talkers) have ever heard of?
Actually, The Simpsons has a history of spoofing VERY obscure films (as well as the more famous ones). It's just that most people don't notice them. And most of the episode names are references to films, including obscure foreign/British movies. so if you've ever wondered where some of the wierd episode titles come from - now you know.
Myself, I wonder sometimes if they are spoofing a book or a TV show based on the book. For instance, when the specific Halloween episode came on, I quickly recognized it as a spook of the short story "It's a Good Life" by Jerome Bixby, which is pretty darned obscure, and was impressed. Only later did I realize that it had been made into a Twilight Zone episode.

I really enjoyed the spoof. I knew it was a spoof of "Run Lola Run", but I have never seen the movie. I only saw a review on Ebert a few years ago, and I kinda wanted to see it. Now I'll look for it next time I go to BB.

This is just great! The one new Simpsons I've missed in years, and it was a great episode.

they post one episode a week. This week is trilogy of error. I believe they are officially sanctioned from somewhere.

I don't see the Go connection other than three different POV stories. That's not necessarily Go specific. Please enlighten me.
Of course, there's the obvious: parallel stories that are titled around each protagonist's name. There are also several plot similiarities including:
  • Stolen sports car
  • Characters (almost) getting hit by a car
  • Characters blackmailed by the cops into wearing a wire
  • An accidental fire
  • A big chase culminating in all parties reaching a compromise
  • An animal who talks via subtitles
well they are all a bit vague. The Lisa almost getting hit by a car thing was specifically a spoof on Run Lola Run. I guess one can draw references to Go if one wants to, but I don't think it was the intent. The Run Lola Run on the other hand was very intentional. I had CC on and it even said "Music from Run Lola Run playing" while Lisa was running.

Dr. Nick: "So what are we doing? A lengthening, or a widening?"

Ship Captain: "Yarrrr, let's make it both"

does anyone find these lines to be a bit odd

Not when you're talking about penile enlargement surgery.

The Run, Lisa, Run part was obvious, but overall, I would have to say it is more similar to "Go". Run Lola Run was three differing variations on the same general events from one characters point of view. This Simpsons was three different characters points of view within the same series of events.

Great Episode, I caught the RLR right off the bat, it was done IMO perfect.
When Homer goes into Moe's for quick storage for his severed thumb and begins to talk smack about "Blue Man group", had me rolling on the floor, almost as good as when he is debating the the bagboy stike while going over Victoria Falls. LMAO

Still funniest homer line this season was when the Simpsons go to Lego...er Blocko Land

After Homer gets Lisa her missing block
Lisa: Thanks dad
Homer: Hey, any friend of Marge's is ok with me...

LOL

Just toss it into the corner with all the other plot holes The Simpsons have amassed over 10 years.

I thought the Run Lola Run music was great, you had these shots of Homer running with the music playing. I was cooking dinner at the time and halfway paying attention then I heard the music and had to stop what I was doing and watch the show.

You guys rock! A friend asked me what this week's Simpsons was a spoof of and I thought it was Run Lola Run, but my memories of the movie were pretty hazy. I spent all kinds of time reading internet reviews of the movie to refresh my memory, to no avail. Then I get intrigued about purchasing the movie on DVD and do a quick search of DVDTalk and *BAM!* here it all is.

I'm new and have been hanging out in DVD Bargains only. I should have trusted you guys and came here first. I've learned my lesson!

Thanks!
