8 Free channels and I have DirecTV with the Platinum Package, which is basically every channel DTV has. I have no clue what that number is.

I just got digital cable. I love it except for a weird noise that garbles the audio for a couple seconds on the analog channels every five minutes when watching them through the cable box. They're sending someone to look at it Friday. Anyway I get 2-69 analog, 101-133 and 136 digital. 301-314 are pay-per-view movie channels, and 401-445 are audio only digital music channels.

Digital cable:

I guess we get about 90 channels included as part of the basic package. Then we pay for all of the movie channels (except Flix and Encore) so that is 12 HBO's, 8 Cinemax's, 10 Showtime's, 4 TMC's, and 7 STARZs - all included, that is roughly 130 channels we always get.
