Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

So, my sideloaded Peacock app on my Amazon FireStick is saying it needs to be updated again. So far I am not able to find an update for it, anyone got one?

I saw this morning's press release by WWE and it still doesn't say how they are going to handle the transition. It seems that basically I will have to subscribe to Peacock by myself and the WWE one will automatically be dropped. Is this the case?

Also, for those that have Peacock, is the $4.99 version ad heavy?

All pay per view events are included at no cost with a Peacock subscription! I may just sign up to watch WrestleMania.

If I’m deciphering that correctly. You’re saying old ppvs will be appearing on Peacock sometime this year?

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

Yeah the press release says all of the current WWE Network stuff should all be moved over to Peacock by Summerslam time (end of August).

I also gather I'll just have to sign up myself and my current WWE sub will just end?

So if all I really care about is WWE, there's no real reason to pay for the ad free tier of Peacock? Just go with the $4.99. They're not going to input ads to things like Broken Skull Sessions or retroactively to any of the archived WWE/WCW/ECW stuff or live PPVs. There's no current Peacock programming that I need the $9.99 ad free version for. At least right now.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

Here's more info about WWE on Peacock:

WWE will have a dedicated page on Peacock where fans can browse and access every PPV event in the last calendar year; current or most recent season episodes of WWE original series Steve Austin’s The Broken Skull Sessions, WWE Chronicle, and WWE Icons; in-ring action with new weekly episodes of NXT the day after air, as well as the 2021 replays of Raw and SmackDown 30 days after air; groundbreaking documentaries, including Undertaker: The Last Ride, WWE 24, and WWE Untold; reality series, including Total Bellas; as well as collections of featured series, topical moments like “Stone Cold” Steve Austin Week, and playlists showcasing current Superstars.

Peacock will continually add WWE Network content to the library, making the entire WWE Network archive — including every WWE, WCW, and ECW PPV event in history — available to stream on demand before SummerSlam.

Peacock Premium will be home to all upcoming PPV events and the current seasons of WWE Original shows. In the free tier, Peacock will offer a new WWE channel; select WWE Original shows; reality shows like Miz and Mrs., Total Bellas, and Total Divas; recent in-ring content; and new weekly episodes of select live shows like Raw Talk and WWE’s The Bump, both live and on demand.

When WWE sunsets the existing standalone WWE Network app on April 4, Peacock will be the exclusive streaming home to WWE Network in the U.S. To continue streaming WWE Network content, fans will need to sign up for Peacock. As previously announced, WWE Network, including all PPVs, will be available on Peacock Premium for $4.99 — a $5.00/month savings.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

One question:
Are they still going to be adding new classic content on a monthly basis(usually 10-13 episodes) or are they going to wait till everything is moved over?

You might want to manually cancel to be sure. In everything I've seen there's been no mention of WWE auto-canceling US customers. If you don't manually cancel it may keep auto charging you for something you can't even access.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

I'm sure most of you know this, but most streaming services aren't money makers right away. Especially start ups. Apparently, Peacock has lost $914M in 2020. Once they start producing more original content, they will get in the red more.

I honestly wonder if this will leave a slight dent on sales for Amazon's streaming devices.

That was a illegal pirated site. There's so many legal live TV apps right now. Peacock has a bunch of live TV channels.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

The WWE Hub is now available on Peacock.

https://www.peacocktv.com/watch/wwe

The casual fans that just watch PPVs and recent stuff should be pleased. But the hardcore fans that watch classic content won't be happy. All that old stuff is missing.

Some random WWE PPVs are missing. Also random episodes missing from RAW and other weekly shows.

WCW & ECW only have a handful of PPVs. No weekly shows.

A lot of stuff is jumbled together. The easiest way to find things is using the Search.

I believe one of their communications said that all the content currently on the WWE Network will be uploaded by late August, which sucks because one of the main appeals is having that classic content available now.

I just finished a Royal Rumble match I was watching on Youtube, only this time without seemingly endless commercials.

Isn't it still available on original WWE Network until April 4th?

I hope when they do bring everything back up to date that they add content for the AWA and Global.

Wondering if WWE Network has any interest in acquiring,NWA Houston(Bosch Family) Memphis,SW Championship Wrestling,Big Time Wrestling,IWA (mid-1970s), Grand Prix (Montreal) and All-Star(Vancouver)?

I know there was a big effort on the NWA Houston material for streaming purposes(converting it to HD) and the NWA was sold and the plug was pulled on NWA Houston streaming service.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

I'm going to be really surprised if any indie and territory stuff shows up on Peacock. We'll get WCW/ECW and that'll be it. Maybe a few highlight matches/shows that feature major stars in their early years. But I don't see them adding old, obscure regional shows from the 70's & 80's.

There was a rumor a few weeks ago that the WWE was set to acquire thousands of hours of programming from one of the older promotions that hadn't been seen on the WWE Network,

Ten episodes from WCW Saturday night were supposed to be added today but I haven't noticed since I have been watching earlier Survivor Series.
