Amazon & IMDb have launched a new streaming service called IMDb Freedive. It's free with ads.

You don't have to download a new app. It's inside the Amazon Prime app that's already on all devices. I just checked the Amazon app on my Roku, and it's grouped with the Prime Video Channels (like HBO, CBS All Access, Acorn TV, etc). So they're treating it like an Add-On Channel, but it's free.

Lots of great titles. I see a few movies and TV shows that aren't available on other services. There's also some original content.

I haven't had a chance to watch anything yet. But hopefully the ads are like Vudu's free stuff (short and well-placed).

I watched an episode of Gilligan's Island. There was an 8-second commercial for IMDb Freedive before it started. Then there were two commercial breaks for 45-seconds each. They were ads for Xbox and American Express. The ads were well-placed in the show's normal commercial breaks.

Altogether, there was less than 2 minutes of ads on a 25-minute episode.

If I was poor, I could definitely get by with just the free services. Between Vudu Free and this new Freedive, there is a ton of good stuff to watch, let alone the various network sites and the fact that YouTube still has almost everything under the sun.

I watched a movie (The Ramen Girl). There were four commercial breaks, not counting the short promo ad before the movie started. Each break was 45-seconds. It was about every 20 minutes. And the breaks were well-placed between scenes.

So far, I'm impressed with the service. It has a good selection of titles and the ad breaks aren't too obnoxious.

I agree, there's tons of good stuff available for free. There's also the Roku Channel. And now YouTube is offering free legit movies (with ads).

A lot of decent ad supported free services. There is actually some stuff on this service like Fringe, which used to be on Netflix.

IMDb TV just released a standalone Roku app.

Unfortunately, it's pretty basic. There's just a few categories listed. And there's no Watchlist or Search feature. Hopefully they'll update the app soon, because there's a lot more content available on the IMDb TV website.

The IMDB TV channel has the whole series of Malcolm in the Middle. Its one of my favorite tv shows ever so I've been watching a few episodes each day since I found it.

Looks like you can also get it on Hulu.

I'll need to eventually load this app up once Leverage starts up. I'm sort of surprised that isn't just on Amazon Prime.

I just found out about this over this past weekend. I personally don't sign up for anything just because it's free. It has to be to my liking & this seems good! I'll plan to sign up soon.

Weird, I could've sworn the name change was already posted about. Must've been another thread. The app changed the name about a week ago but the landing page still says IMDb TV.
