Yeah I got that too. Since I already get HBO Max through DirecTV, I just gave it to my brother in law who isn't a subscriber yet.

$12/month for 1 year promo is back
However, I know most of you here are still stuck since HBO Max is not available on Roku or Amazon.
I was lucky that I have an Apple TV 4K and Nvidia Shield in addition to my Roku.

Sorry if this has already been discovered and I missed reading it, but Ive found a semi-workaround for the Fire Stick. I think it might only work if you have HBO Max because of a TV provider, but since I have it through DirecTV I just realized I have access to HBO as a channel on Amazon Prime. I just tested it out and got Birds of Prey to start playing, so it definitely works. I must have linked my provider info with Prime at some point in the past and just dont remember doing it, so you may have to play around a little to figure out the exact steps, considering I unintentionally stumbled into the realization.

However, on the Firestick, it is pretty trivial to "side load" HBO Max. Because it's android based you can just load it (lots of tutorials on the web), it's only amazon that's preventing you from doing it from their app store. Roku is the bigger problem because they are not android based.

Yeah, HMax actually works really well on the Fire TV - it had a snafu early on and was blocked outright but the guys at HBO wised up and got rid of that. Still has to be sideloaded, but once its on there you're golden.

You will have access to all HBO content but not the Max-only stuff (Birds of Prey is on HBO), similar to what Go got you before it was removed.

Yup, sideloading HBO Max or Peacock onto a Fire Stick is trivially easy. If you're using a Roku TV, just slap a cheap Fire Stick into one of the HDMI ports so you only have to use it for those two channels and not have to deal with Amazon's GUI any longer than you absolutely need to. Lol.
