Doesn’t look like it is to me.
Max has a tag on everything that is, no tag on this

I know there is no tag but I’ve gotten Atmos on every game I’ve watched since this weekend.

The video didn’t look great to me.
There was an Atmos tag though just no 4K tag

The legacy 4K upgrade is going away on or after December 5th. After that no 4K/HDR and only 2 streams unless you upgrade to Ultimate.

I dropped them when my promo expired a couple months ago.

I just wanted to share this money-saving tip. I just re-upped for Max for a year on the Ad-Free plan, making use of the $25 cash back offer on my Amex card (offer expires 11/5). So that works out to about $10/month.

After subscribing, I immediately started the cancellation process for my subscription. As a retention offer, they offered me $8/month for 3 months, which is applied after my current plan period ends. I accepted the offer, so my monthly rate will actually be cheaper in Nov. 2024 when my current annual plan ends. I set a reminder on my phone for Feb. 2025 when my $8/mo promo ends.

I kinda figured any BF promos would be for the ad-tier only. I guess I'm glad I renewed my ad-free annual plan when I had the AMEX $25 cash back offer.

No 4K/Atmos at all with the budget ad plan. Not worth it for me.

Max’s new additions for December and also what’s leaving. Very Meh list. No new scripted programming. Catalog titles are ho-hum

Max is removing all Looney Tunes content from the site. Got tired of paying Bugs and Daffy those tiny residual checks.

Glad that was corrected. I try to show my kid Looney Tunes, but when I do it on his child profile many eps are Blocked from Under Age viewers.

that's one of the best things about Paramount Plus, a nice compliment to their own catalog of movies.

With the A24 deal with Max, I’m guessing Past Lives will hit Max once it finally reaches SVOD. I’d like to get my Mom to finally watch it. It’s been almost 6 months since it was in theaters.

I'm wondering what the cutoff is because from 2023, Showing Up was just added to Paramount+, Beau is Afraid will be at the end of the month, You Hurt My Feelings is in January. Maybe that one will be the last one since the press does say Past Lives is included in the Max deal.

I wonder if they extended the drop date. It's 12/18/23 and still getting Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Never know about 4K as the Roku is set to 4K and will upscale any content to 4K that isn't 4K. So when checking what the TV is receiving it always shows 2160p.

The Max app is absolutely atrocious for finding out what's new for January 1.

I just don't get why WBD fucked it up and made that feature worse along with what's leaving.

Yes, it's terrible in-app, but WBD actually puts out monthly press releases with a comprehensive list of what's coming and going on MAX. As far as I can tell, Max and Peacock are the only ones who do this. Here's this month's list for Max:

Edit: I added a Wikipost to this thread with a link to the MAX Press Releases.

Re: Max — Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service

My son and I were going through the OG Star Trek movies while he was home from college and imagine my surprise to find them all removed come January 1st. It appears they moved to Max (likely temporarily) but were only available in regular HD and not 4K like they were on Paramount.

Quite surprised that P+ would just let these staples go and not even be available to stream on their service. I ended up popping in my BD of Part IV: Voyage Home since I couldn't watch it in 4K on P+.

Then I went over to Starz to watch Conan The Barbarian and both it and Destroyer had been removed from the service in the last couple of weeks. The only way to watch it was with ads or rent it for 4 bucks. I chose the 4 buck route.

Then I looked for some other stuff that I was planning on watching but some had moved to Hulu, and I only have that service with ads which I abhor.

I am starting to wonder if I would just save more money by canceling all the streaming services and just renting whatever I want to watch at this point.

Annoying as fuck.

You literally cannot keep up with who has what without an app. And why does every app seem to think Kanopy seems to stream everything I want to watch only to go there, and it not be there. Argh.

Re: Max — Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service

^Yeah... Paramount+ being "The Home of Star Trek" is why I signed up. That's no longer the case. They still have some good stuff, but It's no longer one of my top Streaming Services because they're whoring out the ST shows and films i.e. the old ST Films on MAX and PRODIGY to Netflix. Hell, I'm pretty sure MAX will no longer be "The Home of DC" soon as i see them whoring out DC stuff to other. Hey, it's a BUSINESS. They gotta make money. I get it... just seems none of these streamers can figure out how to give subscribers what they want as far as having a property centralized AND make money.

Paramount was doing the same thing with the Star Trek films back when it was CBS All Access.

You guys should own Star Trek on 4K disc and BD. Fuck the streams when it comes to Star Trek.

Once Max was rebranded from HBO Max, they also took away extended or director's cuts. The Star Trek movies are on there, but they no longer provide the extended cuts of TMP, II and VI

I still think the most inexplicable thing a streaming platform did with their own premium content was Max launching with Harry Potter just to say they had it then losing it like a couple months later, picking them up again, then losing them again, then getting them again.

Yes, but it seems the actions have increased. And again, saying "We are the Home of..." should NOT be something they're saying 'cause it ain't true anymore. It's more like, "The temp Hang out of (insert franchise here) until we get paid then they can come Home"

I shudder to think what Warner Bros/Discovery/Zaslov will do with Star Trek.

Just look at what they did with their DC properties.

I mean, you occasionally get something good like Harley Quinn or Doom Patrol, but the tentpole stuff is messy as fuck.

I get the reasoning behind moving stuff around to make money but why not also keep your flagship stuff on your channel at the same time? Why can't it show or be available on two streaming services?

Them letting their flagship stuff go just makes me more apt to not keep the service once renewal time comes.

I'm sure the amount of money you get licensing out exclusively to a competitor is a lot more, and right now WB/Zaslav is focused on $$$. There are also pre existing agreements but you'd think those would be expiring soon enough.

Note that they did license out a bunch of DC movies to Netflix while still retaining the rights for their service (for now).

Personally, if I already have Netflix and most of the content from, say, Paramount that I want is already on there, why do I need something like Paramount Plus? Maybe that's just me.

I don't disagree but to me, the reason you keep something like P+ is if it is cheap and it holds everything of several franchises that you want access to at all times, such as Star Trek and South Park.

Once they start removing their mainstays, I have no reason to keep a sub to it. This makes me likely to not resubscribe in the future or only sub for a month and then cancel or just rent what I want to watch at the time I want to watch it.

Kinda getting fed up with this shit. I wouldn't have several of my services if I hadn't have gotten them dirt cheap or for free.

DJariya 01-05-24 02:01 PM

Re: Max — Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service

I know you all are sick of price increases for streaming services. But, the Max B/R sports tier will stay free for awhile longer. If you don't know what this is or don't use it, it's basically Max live streaming Turner Sports live sports content on the app. Non sports fans can ignore this post. ;)
