As I recall, from way back when it aired, those clips were all public domain.
AV Club speculated the same thing a while back as the reason it wasn't on HBO Go: https://tv.avclub.com/it-s-not-tv-an...s-h-1798238242 nly the first two seasons are available on DVD; the sole streaming service that offers Dream On, Hulu, only provides edited episodes of the first three seasons.... Considering all the clips of old TV shows and movies Dream On used, maybe expensive licensing fees are keeping it unavailable. Edit: OK, I found an easy one. At the 2:53 mark on this video, they show the title card for "Hail the Conquering Hero," a 1944 Preston Sturgues film, that's still under copyright. |
Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020
Can you multiple stream on different devices? Can you share accounts or creds? Is that illegal?
|
Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020
It's 5 devices / 3 simultaneous streams. I assume it's frowned upon but do as you want.
|
Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020
Oldboy sure loves to share his accounts. :)

Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020
No, if it’s not right, I won’t. Sincerely, didn’t know it was. I won’t bc they would have my cable logon and stuff. I’m sure would never do anything about, but still...

Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020
You have to sign into the devices to register them, it's automatic - it basically means cached credentials so you don't have to go through the verification process again. Stuff like your cellphone or web browser doesn't count, but your Fire TV or Xbox One would (yes, they know you're using it on a Fire TV). You can view the page in your web browser.

Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020
But they have to put my cable credentials in dont they?
|
Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020
Most likely. Some use Access Codes instead but it varies by provider.

And if you are worried about that then why bother sharing something you are not supposed to anyway. |
Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020
That’s why I was asking in first place, can you share or not? If not, I won’t, but if it’s accessible to others, like Netflix, then I’d do it...
|
Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020
Yep you can. Not sure how often you have to relogin, but more info will be out as the platform ages.

Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020
Maybe I missed this last week so apologies in advance if this is old news.
https://www.cnet.com/news/warnermedi...azon-and-roku/ Didn't realize they already have the apps ready once the contracts are greenlit, which is good. So get it done already! ;) |
Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020
We’re approaching 1 week now. WM and Roku, Amazon need to figure their shit out and not argue about pennies.
|
Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020
I want it to get done as well. I just don't understand how these huge streaming devices can refuse to allow this enormous streaming service on their platform -- especially considering unlike with Apple + , there is already a previous version of the service on the app.

Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020
Something else I also noticed:
The "Last Chance" movies include some of the movies leaving HBO (not Max) at the end of June. But not all. And the non HBO licensed movies have end dates of July 1. This includes the last Hobbit movie that they just added. Heck, it includes all three Hobbit movies. Also apparently leaving on July 1 but not listed are all the non HBO DC live action movies (all the Batman 89-90s movies, BvS, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, etc.) You have got to be kidding me. |

They will eventually settle all that. |

I wouldn't worry about those. Sometimes those old movies are stuck in old licensing agreements. But keep in mind, these movies can't stay here in perpetuity. They are licensed for xx period of time.

Will that Harley Quinn animated series be coming to HBO Max soon?

Warner Media from the last I read is pretty adamant that DC Universe is not shutting down. |
Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020
Boo!

Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020
I bet DC Universe dies soon anyways. Doom Patrol is moving to HBO Max, Stargirl went to CW rather than DC Universe, and the Green Lantern series in development is going to be on HBO Max. Plus the Harley Quinn show is also being shown somewhere else (SyFy) already.

Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020
I was happy to see Doom Patrol included as I was not going to subscribe to two Warner services. I have plenty of their animated shows, animated and live-action movies, and comics to last me for quite a while.

After watching Wonder Woman I noticed there was no Man of Steel, then noticed that BvS, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman and Justice League all leave 7/1 Same with the '89-'97 Batman films. Well that was fast. :scratch2:

AT&T is exempting HBOMax from both traditional data caps and the soft caps on mobile unlimited plans. Netflix, Disney+, etc... those still count.

Oooh, neat, films like An American Werewolf In London and Lifeforce will be available this month, looking forward to watching some of the films on the list.

Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020
Just canceled my HBO NOW subscription that was set to renew on Sunday, since there's still no sign of a deal for HBO Max on Roku. Gonna sub to Disney+ instead.

Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020
Selection remains hit and miss for me. Only two Dirty Harry movies, three Kubricks. Maybe they’re working on it—who knows.

Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020
From what I understand one of the major stalemates is Roku’s commission for selling the HBO Max app through the Roku store. They want their piece of the pie for whatever that amount may be. I guess it must be more than what they currently get for HBO Now.

Does this have Harley Quinn animated? Both seasons?
