Re: Disney+ streaming service
Well, to be fair, the Holland movies are co-produced with Marvel (owned by Disney) and Venom is loosely affiliated with Marvel. But, yes this is definitely a licensing deal since Sony owns those movies.
It's not like Disney + is licensing Paramount or Lionsgate content.

Heard somewhere they were getting Ghostbusters later. When the Disney Channel was still a premium channel, they had some movies from other studios that fit with the other stuff they showed.

I just happened to notice that the fast forward feature only has one speed now and when you pause what you’re viewing, it doesn’t display the time remaining like it used to.
I’m assuming this is from a recent update?

Disney + plans to drop some content
I would expect some cancelled Disney + originals will likely be dropped. I would expect stuff like Willow, Mighty Ducks, Big Shots and maybe a few others to get dropped. I doubt they would drop classic vault content. Realistically no one is going to watch those cancelled originals anymore. So they seem like the most likely ones to get dumped.
Also, they are combining with ESPN+ and Hulu into the app, but will still keep them separate
and they lost about 4M subscribers. So a bunch of people cancelled after Mandalorian ended?

Disney is rolling out a single streaming app, featuring programming from ESPN+, Hulu and Disney+, by the end of this year.
CEO Bob Iger announced the move during the company’s fiscal second quarter earnings call, calling it a “logical progression of our DTC offerings.” Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ will continue to be available as stand-alone services, he noted. The three have been offered as a bundle since 2020, with the combo package credited with driving subscriber acquisition across all three services.

I dunno, I hope they aren't cutting out any of their streaming originals. HBO Max did it for the tax write off, but otherwise you should at least signal to viewers that the stuff made for the platform is staying. I was thinking they would more readily cut legacy content and then use that as a marketing vault-like concept to sell media/digital copies or their content to other streaming services. Unless the deals on some of these streaming only shows had huge backends or something depending on how long they stayed up on the service.

The 4M lost subscribers were mostly from India. Disney + Hotstar lost the rights to Indian Cricket.

The three are already bundled together for one price if you want. I'd imagine that price won't change. If you sub to Hulu Live you get D+ and ESPN+ included as well.

But there's no option at the moment for Disney+ (ad free) and Hulu+ (ad free) without ESPN+(ads), which is what I assume a ton of people want in a bundle (or maybe that's just me)

Depending on cost, I'd be down for a Disney+ coupled with Hulu+, both ad free. I have zero interest in any version of ESPN.

Unless Disney is planning to lease content exclusively to other services for $$$, I don't get why they need to remove content? Is it simply the cost of keeping it stored and available?

If anyone wasn't watching it 2-3 years ago when it premiered, you ain't watching it down the road even though want it always "accessible"

Granted no one has said or written that any Disney + originals are being dropped. I'm just speculating they may consider dropping canceled originals that maybe no one is watching.

Verizon might be eliminating their Disney bundle soon.

Does sound like those who have it will be grandfathered.

Because they don't want to keep paying John Stamos and David E Kelley if no one is watching the canceled Big Shots
and a few others like it.

Thanks...the cost of residuals totally slipped my mind.
