Re: Disney+ streaming service - November 12, 2019 launch

Thousands of Disney+ users claim they were hacked after signing up for new streaming service

Thousands of Disney+ subscribers say they’ve been hacked since signing up for the new streaming service.

Hackers have allegedly already stolen thousands of customer accounts, according to the BBC.

Ten million people signed up for the service since its launch on Nov. 12.

Hours after the service launched, customers reported being locked out of their accounts.

Thousands of accounts were soon for sale on the dark web for as little as $3, according to Zdnet. Disney+ costs $6.99 a month.

The subscriptions available on the dark web show what type of subscription the customer bought (monthly, yearly, bundle with ESPN+, etc), what country the service is based in (it has only launched in the U.S., Canada and the Netherlands, so far) and when the subscription expires.

Customers who have been locked out of their accounts reported their email addresses and passwords were changed.

Jason Hill, a cybsersecurity researcher, told the BBC many people re-use passwords across websites and accounts, which likely played a large part in this hack.

Disney+ does not currently have two-factor authentication, a feature that requires users to answer a prompt on a secondary device when logging in to a website or service.

Vice did a similar article, but so far I've seen nothing that says Disney+ itself was cracked, it more points to phishing attempts and reusing otherwise compromised passwords.

Which Roku do you have? My Roku3 was having major issues with Disney+, despite not having any problems with any other app. I swapped it with my Roku Premier from another room, and Disney+ runs fine. I picked up a new Roku Premier last night to replace the 3.

I tried watching an episode of The Simpsons. There was a "skip titles" button that came up. Who the Hell skips the opening titles for a Simpsons episode? Maybe only if you've seen it before. The presence of the button distracted me from seeing everything in the opening.

I could've sworn someone said that skipping the title for Simpsons still let you see the couch gag. But I've never tried it.

edited: tried it, it does keep some of the credits but not enough to preserve the couch scene, so I'm not sure what's the point unless Groening has something in his contract that you can't skip his name.

X-Men cartoon episode order is jacked up in later seasons. Guide here to correct this order: https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/disn...205456984.html

Careful there, that's really petty and nit-picky. Just kidding, I can't stand that either- and I'll even admit that IS pretty nit-picky (when I saw it demonstrated I figured I'd be the only one who found it annoying, but seems a few others do also) but I'm still not going to tolerate it. Last time I tried Netflix, I watched a few episodes of Stranger Things which has a beautiful opening, and seeing that "Skip Intro" pop up I said "No, just no." I get the need for options to skip things, but they could easily make Enter the default Skip button without showing it onscreen every time- you'd think eventually everyone would learn that anyways. Incidentally that's why I always skip ads on YouTube, since the timer and Skip Ad button are always onscreen.

I'm sorry if I sound negative, the material here is GREAT but it's frustrating that the concept of watching something complete from beginning to end with no intrusions is so foreign to the people running these things. This isn't like cable where everyone gets the exact same feed at the same time, they need to let us customize things like that. Hopefully Disney will be a bit more responsive to user feedback than Netflix has been- I've pretty much given up on them.

Nothing wrong with a skip intro button. Just because it’s there doesn’t mean you have to use it. If the intro is a few seconds, okay, but some are a good minute and a half and they’re not always good. So yeah, that’s not going away.

My Disney+ app got an update on my LG TV, but for the life of me, I don't see any differences when running the app - not sure what got changed/updated.

I'm sure they're still working on the interface and stuff like that. I'm fairly sure the menu functionality will look nothing like what we see now in say a year or so. Most of those issues should be fixed by then.

Time to break out a piece of notebook paper and a pen. Pretend like you're living in in the early 1900s.

Think there might have been an update. I’m seeing Resume and Restart options for programs.

But still no watchlist/way to know which episode you last watched, right?

Don’t know, I haven’t really watched any shows that have more than two episodes. Mainly watching movies.

Im hoping they add DD5.1 vs DD2.0 which is there now. Also, I hope they update the Dolby Vision as Disney+ was way worse than what I had/have from VUDU. While the pic quality wasn't as good. Enjoyed watching Mandalorian better on Roku 3 as the brightness was consistent.

So my hulu 99c trial ends in three days.

From what I've seen, if you locked in the three year deal, you lose the discount if you choose the bundle. They only credit you about 4 bucks for the prepaid disney plus in the bundle, so if you were going to do the bundle you might as well not have prepaid.

I just noticed on my AppleTV app that I don’t get my complete list of shows and movies under my “Watchlist” section. I tried logging in and out but stills the same.

Looks like the "Restart" and "Resume play" options are back.

Does or has anyone signed up for the Disney + Bundle with the Hulu Ad-Free seen the actual charge that will be on the bill? We signed up for Hulu Ad-Free and from some sites said go to Disney+ and then sign up for the Bundle and you'll get the Hulu Ad-Free instead of normal Hulu.No big deal as we see it for under $20.00 we're getting Disney and Hulu ad-Free which is pretty good...

If you sign up for Hulu Ad-free, they will charge you separately for 11.99. If you use the same account you use for Disney+ and then sign up for the bundle, they will credit you 5.99 on the bundle. So you end up paying:

12.99 - 5.99 + 11.99 = 18.99 + fees and taxes

Note that if you got in on any kind of Disney Plus deal (the three years prepaid, for instance) they will also credit you basically the exact amount you paid, in essence removing your preorder discount.

A friend posted a screenshot of the Star Wars Holiday Special being on Disney+. I haven’t subscribed yet, is this true?

Sorry for being OldBoy.
