Kinda dumb it's only good for 48 hours at a time.
Well, could be worse, they could have made you change it every time you watched something

Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service

Random stat:

YouTube TV now has more than 8 million subscribers, that makes it the 5th largest Cable service in the US just behind Dish (9.75m), Comcast is still #1 with 16.1m subscribers.

That's nearly 2x the subscriber count of Hulu + Live TV.

Is there a way to turn off this delay in Apple devices? I haven’t found the setting in my iPad, iPhone, or Apple TV.

There is conflicting info on this but apparently is a Verizon promo snafu and not going up at this time.

A promotion being run by Verizon added fuel to these concerns, with mention of a monthly price for YouTube TV at $82.99/month. The ad for the promotion, spotted by MichaelSaves, offered Verizon customers a $10 discount on each month of their first year using YouTube TV, with the price going back to the “current subscription price of $82.99/mo” after. This was taken to mean that YouTube TV would be applying a price hike soon.

Thankfully, that’s not the case.

Google has confirmed through the @TeamYouTube account on Twitter/X that the Verizon promotion is in error and will be fixed, effectively confirming that YouTube TV isn’t seeing a price hike at this time.

However, there is no direct confirmation that the price won’t be going up again in the future. In 2021, after a previous price hike, YouTube TV customers were told that another raise wouldn’t come in the “near term,” and it was around two years before the next hike arrived.

Interesting because I literally just got an email from YttV saying it’s going up to $83 in January

That's why I said conflicting as the linked X post to TeamYouTube post is missing (at least for me as I don't have a Twitter account).

... and ...

Yup... now the reports are coming out. They denied the increase earlier this week then raised it anyways.

Wrong. There was an email sent out directly from Google.

Yeah I know... Google denied it earlier this week leading to the confusion.

Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service

I don't understand why they lied about it earlier this week and then surprise! Price Hike. Nothing wrong with being honest from the jump when they were asked about it....

Wouldn't be surprised if the folks replying from YT's Twitter account didn't know it was happening and were being honest in their reply. Sometime folks inside the building are the last to know.

Oof. $82 for local channels, occasional sports and America's Funniest Videos. That's literally all I watch any more on YTTV. Might be time to get rid of it.

The days of cheap live TV for streamers are long gone.

Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service

My guess is a big chunk of the $10 increase goes to pay for the buried broadcast fee that Google pays to local broadcasters. That fee alone for Spectrum cable is almost $26.00 (in my area) and has gone up at least $2-3 every year.

Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service

It's going to be over $90 a month for me with 10% Tennessee sales tax added on. I'll keep it for now for sports and MTV so I can watch The Challenge. I'm going to have to cut some of my streaming costs. I probably pay over $200 a month between YouTube TV, YouTube Premium, Netflix, Max, Paramount Plus, Hulu and Disney Plus. I could probably live with YouTube Premium, and YouTube TV and just switch the other streaming services and have one at a time and cancel.

Yes I’ve heard the retransmission fees are the main cost that causes the live TV streamers to constantly go up.

Maybe look at annual subscriptions so you don’t have to worry about monthly bills. I pay for Paramount + and Max annually. Netflix I get discounted with T-Mobile at 8.50 per month. And I bundle Disney + and Hulu. I know the expenses and time available you have to watch might not work for you.

Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service

I clicked through the cancelation process (very simple) and it offered me 6 months more at the current rate ($72.99). On the page that is asked for a cancelation reason, I selected 'cost'. I went ahead and took it.

I pay for Max and Paramount Plus yearly. It all adds up though. I barely have time to watch anything except football during football season, but I like being to watch anything I want when I want to. Once my March Madness discount for Max is up, I may get the Disney +, Hulu, Max no ads bundle.

You can (and maybe you already do) bundle Disney, Hulu and Max for $29.99 ad free. There is a lower ad supported price too.

I got it for under $9 a month when I bought a year during a March Madness promotion. I'll switch to that bundle when my year ends.
