Anyone With A New York or Los Angeles Library Card Can Now Stream Thousands Of Feature Films, Including The Criterion Collection
In July, LAist announced that you could stream hundreds of movies from the Criterion Collection for free if you had a Los Angeles Public Library card. We immediately reached out to the New York Public Library inquiring about our own hidden benefits as library card holders, and at the time they did not offer access to Kanopy's streaming service, which the LAPL uses. But lo and behold, they have now decided to add it (you're welcome?)—starting Friday August 4th, anyone with a library card (both NYPL and Brooklyn Public Library) will have access to hundreds of movies. |

BTW watching Sharknado for a few minutes here thru UHD streaming on my LG. It's actually pretty good sound/picture wise, too bad the movie is still shite. |

I got an email about Sharknado and it took me to the website where it only let me get the regular HD version- then I saw it was available in UHD but it isn't showing on my TV's app. I emailed support so hopefully they'll upgrade it.

Vudu has the preorder for Guardians 2 UHD for $24.99. The UHD has it in Dolby Vision, something the UHD disc will not have.

The email I received relating to Star Trek Discovery referred to the free month as a way to catch up on previous ST series and movies before Discovery releases. Also, I had not heard it would be available initially any other way than via CBS all access.....
Side note... I wonder what the abbreviation will be for Star Trek Discovery... Cause the first letter of each name makes an awful acronym.... |

Free trial won't work for the commercial-free option, and don't think I have the patience to sit through commercials even for free right now. Sort of want to see if the quality has improved at least though.
