The new Streets of Fire BD that just came out this week from Shout is excellent. Lots of great material on it.

It's a new 2K transfer and they have almost 3 hours of documentaries. I would recommend it.

Thanks for the information, well Streets of Fire is completely blind for me (despite seeing a ton of 80's films since I am an 80's kid)believe it or not. So I figure, $5 digital versus $20 Blu-ray...probably for the best. ...hopefully though Streets of Fire digital uses a similar master.

But rest assured, if I do fall in love...oh a nice special edition like that will be on my radar.

Might pick up Brazil...I've never seen it (I KNOW, I KNOW). Do the Right Thing is tempting as well.

You need to get both!

I'd disagree only that you really need the Brazil Criterion Blu Ray. The movie by itself isn't enough.
I will be grabbing Do The Right Thing.

There is the chance I might not like it. When it comes to Terry Gilliam, traditionally I like what he's selling so to speak (Holy Grail, Life of Brian, Baron Munchausen, Fisher King) but sometimes not (Meaning of Life, Time Bandits). So while I know the Criterion is fantastic from what I've read, I think digital might be best for a first viewing.

Then I'd say spend the $5 first. But Brazil is brilliant.

The Monty Python films aren't really reflective of Gilliam's style. They are more Terry Jones, though both guys are credited.

One note on Brazil is that, based on the run time, it's the original US Theatrical Cut, not the European cut or Final Director's Cut (which is basically the European cut with one change from the US cut).

The US cut is still good, and Gilliam actually edited and approved the cut, but it's about 10 minutes shorter than the European and Director's cuts.
