I went thru the app last night and found nothing different except the name. Didn't miss anything.

I think they added a bunch of new movies, no? Like that Spongebob movie they've been saving for this (and the new spongebob series), and I'm sure a bunch more stuff (that I'll probably never watch)

I've had All Access via Amazon and it is it's own thing, using your Amazon Prime account for set-up and billing. Frankly, it worked better for me through Amazon than directly through Paramount; the sound and video quality seemed better to me. I had to make a decision and I cancelled rather than wait and see how they'd adjust my refund if I quit after I got billed today. I'm not sure if I made the right choice. I called Samsung and the CSR said once the app is gone it's gone (and yet I wonder if that's really true, -the CSR is not a Technician). I tried something that was suggested on-line, -basically re-starting from ground zero (which will be a pain to re-set, -passwords, settings, and all ) and it looks like it accomplished nothing.Originally Posted by fujishig
He's saying he's already subscribed directly to Paramount + and you're telling him to use the Amazon Prime app. Can you really switch over an already paid for subscription? Unfortunately it seems like his deadline to cancel has passed. Although hopefully this was just some weird thing with the app update and not some lack of support for older Samsung models. That is one reason why I stopped using the smart apps on my TV, they always go out of support (and then you have to buy a new TV, much easier to just get a roku or firestick if they're supported by the app you want)
I have a Samsung blu-ray player and it has both the All Access app and Paramount Plus, but when I enter my account information it says it's incorrect. That's frustrating.
Of course Amazon has their own deal, -99 cents for the first month, -so that's an option. I wasn't that impressed, -its hardly Disney+ at this point. Dropping in occasionally a month at a time might be just fine for me.

I always recommend using a Roku/Apple or Google Tv/Fire stick for streaming instead of using a Smart TV or Blu-Ray player. The tv and Blu-ray player companies are really bad about supporting and updating the streaming apps. You also have access to many more apps when you use a Roku/Apple or Google Tv/Fire stick.

It sounds like you do pretty much all of you streaming on a smart TV. As lwhy? suggested, I think it's time for you to get a dedicated streaming device or stick. I mean they're not expensive. You really can't rely on your TV for consistent updates on their apps. I have a Samsung smart TV from 2016, but I never use the built in apps. I have a Apple TV and a 2019 Roku Ultra and they have been awesome.Originally Posted by DWilson

That’s why I really love the TCL’s with Roku in them. My TV apps are all within Roku.

I got a couple of emails for free trial codes for 1 month. Peak and Mountain are the codes.
I was a month to month subscriber to CBS AA since day 1, but found out about the Sportsline gambling site deal and I'm now subscribed until next summer with no monthly bills.

I have an older Roku but it became a space issue, -I have a 4K player and region-free player and a Nintendo Switch and with the larger transformer on the plugs swapping out things became an issue. I went back to my old Roku last night, -its not reading 5.1 which may be my receiver (but it works fine with the Samsung). I tried the Paramount Plus app and it just acted odd, -I sampled the Spongebob movie and it decided to play the "Narrated for the Visually impaired" track, while other things played in something like PCM stereo. While I was working with it, I tried the HBO Max app and it wouldn't play at all (don't know why). I could have gotten an updated Roku, but this is the first major issue with the Samsung app-wise (Netflix and Prime have worked fine for me). I could get a new one but there's a certain reluctance to get into all the switching HDMI hook-ups back-and-forth nonsense. I haven't bought a Roku since I went 4k.
I get what you're saying, though.

Go to Amazon and buy a 5 input 4K HDMI switch. I got one for $40. It will solve so many problems with the lack of HDMI ports. Originally Posted by DWilson

Yeah, even the roku on whatever TVs have them may be unsupported someday. It's just easier to replace a standalone device than an entire TV (though it is a good excuse to the wife to upgrade the whole set)

Probably the worst "rollout" of a streaming service so far. All they did was slap the "Paramount+" name on CBS All-Access. That's it.
I got 18mos of this for $10 and can hardly find anything to watch. Even most of the Trek stuff can be found elsewhere.

My kids watched the Spongebob camp prequel and we'll watch Sponge on the Run for movie night tonight, so that justifies my $10/18 months = 56 cents worth this month.
Here's the hype real, that's all that really appeals to our family that's brand new at least this week:
I sometimes forget Dauber from Coach is Patrick on Spongebob even though he doesn't change his voice at all.

I agree. For all the hype, I expected major changes like the HBO Max launch. This was just a rebranding. What a letdown.Originally Posted by Eric F

Weird how people thought was going to be a rollout. It was always just going to be a rebranding. Literally.

They apparently don't give a fuck about Watchlists or fixing the sound thing....

Anyone else get charged the full amount after signing up for a year with the 50% off?

If you are an existing subscriber, they charge you full price for first year and then (claim they will) apply the 50% off for second year. This is not spelled out in n anything anywhere. Those of us who are existing subscribers found out by calling support after discovering the full price charge.Originally Posted by windom

They're basically getting you to commit to two years by doing that.

Which is what I told them when I spoke to customer service. It may work as it for some who already had annual plans depending on when their already paid subscription ends. For us, we changed from monthly to annual to apply the promo so we have 1 year till we get 1 year for 50% off. If someone's year was up days after their existing annual plan expired, they get it sooner.Originally Posted by dsa_shea

What stinks is we had literally 1-2 days left on our monthly plan. We could have cancelled, waited a day or so after it ended, still been before 3/3 (end of promo), and then re subscribed with the same email getting 50% off first year. We didn't know that at that time.
I told customer support when I spoke with them and in the survey that followed as well as on some Facebook posts that it was a bait and switch. While nice they allowed the promo to work for existing subscribers, the details of that promo for existing subscribers was not shared prior to or after using the code. The only way to get an answer was to contact customer support.

Yeah, if that's really what they "gave" existing subscribers as a deal I'd expect a large backlash (unless the number of existing subs was so small that they don't care, which is even worse).
I have no idea if the deal is still around but I said it earlier, just write down where you stopped on the shows you care about and sign up with a different email address. It's not like you're losing out on your carefully curated watchlist or anything. I think you can even edit your existing account to another secondary address and reuse the first address if you really want (it's not something I tried but I've heard anecdotally that that works)
