Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions

I have Hulu bundled with Disney+ and ESPN+ into my Verizon phone plan. I watched the newest Daredevil on Disney - no commercials. That was an unexpected surprise.

My god - the commercial load on Hulu is simply terrible. It's like every 8 or so minutes. I tend to avoid Hulu, but just wrapping up Handmaids Tale.

I don't believe it can be done anymore but I did the "upgrade" to Hulu ad-free for $5/mo with the old Verizon Disney Bundle.

Disney is now the full owner of Hulu. They bought Comcast NBC Universal out.

It would not surprise at all if all the remaining NBC content eventually gets dropped and segues fully to Peacock.

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions

I haven't been paying much attention to my streaming subscriptions lately. But last night I noticed that my Hulu/Disney+/ESPN+ bundle was almost the same price as the Hulu/Disney+/MAX bundle ($27 vs $30). Since I don't use ESPN+, it was a no-brainer to switch over to the MAX bundle and cancel my stand-alone MAX subscription ($17).

I think the Hulu app won't exist much longer after this. I think Hulu will only be available in the Disney+ app soon.

The standalone Hulu app will be phased out. It will be a channel on the new Disney+

But, it sounds like you still need a separate subscription for it's content.

Live is moving to Fubo? Maybe I should start looking into swapping to YTTV.

Hopefully the new Disney+ app is better designed. It's a freaking mess now.

Hulu is kind of a mess now too, mainly because they have so much content added on a regular basis and it's really hard (unless I'm missing something) to see everything new.

They haven’t required separate subscriptions for the “adult” stuff in the rest of the world. Even through Disney, the Hulu content in the US is lower quality (no Atmos) than the same content everywhere else (have VPN, will travel!)

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions

Has anyone tried the getting no ads with Hulu since has the Disney Bundle with Verizon now that they have integrated?

I want Hulu ad free, especially for the month of October, but various googling tells me that the bundle through Verizon is old, and I am scared to fuck with it and lose my free Disney + subscription with them.

I don't know if I would risk it. The procedure (if it still even works) requires you to cancel the current bundle, sign up for ad free Hulu then reapply the bundle. Who knows if you would be able to reapply the bundle. Verizon wants us off those old plans. And I wouldn't trust the customer service department. They are notoriously misinformed or flat out lie to you.

I pay Hulu directly for the upgrade to ad free since I get the V D+ bundle. But I have been doing that for years. I don't know if it would mess with anything if you did it now.

I do as well. $5/mo. I didn't have an issue pulling it off as I hadn't redeemed the bundle in the first place. I activated Hulu first then activated the bundle.

Have the Verizon Bundle and been doing ad free with direct with HULU as well by paying the $5/month.

My annual love/hate relationship with Hulu. I love the product (will never go back to cable tv or switch to YouTube tv), but of course we all hate price increases.

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions

Hulu is having some issues - my ad free and HBO add-on have both dropped off my account. I tried watching something this weekend and I had ads, I then switched over to watch HBO and it stated I had no account. Went to Hulu account and it only showed ad-level account. Called and they stated it is an ongoing issue they are working on.
