I'm just waiting to see if there's another .99 or 1.99 black friday deal.

I'm thinking maybe not if they really want to push people to the bundles.

I don’t mind Disney + and Hulu merging into one app. Other territories have already done it.

I love having ESPN+ and Hulu already merged together. I don't really care for the ESPN app and prefer Hulu. It will be nice to have all three in one app.

Whatever they do, they need to improve/fix the buffering for live sports. Even when I’m on wired internet (250 mbps), the app will buffer and/or crash.

When watching the On Demand, DVR, or Hulu library, the app is 100% fine.

I wonder what that means for those of us with the Verizon bundle which has D+ with no ads and Hulu w/ ads?

I barely use Hulu because of all the ads. They used to show movies without ads. Just made you watch 3 minutes of ads before a movie. Now they scatter them throughout the movie. Fuck that.

Considering all the issues I have with the Hulu app on Apple TV device, I really hope the new app is better. The app locks up all the time and even restarting the device doesn't always fix it.

Kodi is the way…

(And just a little secret I haven’t shared too much but will here- with Kodi you get NO commercials on the cheaper subscription!)

My $1.99/mo "Hulu with Ads" Black Friday special is ending in a couple weeks. I am not cancelling my account, because I have the grandfathered $2.99/mo "Disney+ No Ads" add-on.

What I do have is an American Express Blue Cash Everyday card, and it has an activated benefit, where it will give you a $7 credit back per month if you charge at least $9.99 through Disney+, Hulu, or ESPN+. (This also works with AMEX Blue Cash Preferred card and Platinum card (Platinum benefit is $20/mo with no minimum spend required)).

So my cost now is "Hulu with Ads" $7.99/mo, plus "Disney+ No Ads" Add-on $2.99, minus $7 statement credit.

Yep was watching college football on Hulu yesterday and the audio kept cutting in and out. Switched to the regular ESPN app and everything was fine.

I’m in pretty much the same situation. My $1.99 Hulu expires tomorrow, but I don’t really need Hulu but love the grandfathered $2.99 no ads Disney+.

Are you sure that what we have after the price increase qualifies for the Amex $7 off? The fine print specifies it’s for any bundle. Not sure what we have is technically a bundle.

I was going to switch to the cheapest bundle, $15, to get the $7 off and lower my soon to be $11.47 total, but would hate to add ads to Disney.

Yes, if you read the fine print on the benefit it says: ""Qualifying purchases” include Disney Bundle monthly subscription purchases of at least $9.99 a month (excluding taxes) and any other monthly or annual subscription purchase or add-ons of at least $9.99 (excluding taxes) in any one calendar month purchased at U.S. websites DisneyPlus.com, Hulu.com or Plus.espn.com made on your enrolled Card Account."

So, basically, each month that you have a charge of $9.99 or more from Hulu.com, DisneyPlus.com, or Plus.espn.com, you'll get the $7 statement credit, regardless of what your plan is.

If you're looking for something to watch, check out To Catch A Killer. It's a pretty good throwback to those 90's "FBI hunting a serial killer" movies.

99c per month Hulu with ads is back for eligible accounts (usually you need to have an account that hasn't been subscribed for like a month or so)

Offer Ends 11:59 PM PST on 11/28/23. You can add-on Disney+ (with Ads) for an additional $2/month.

I can't find a way to "upgrade" my account to just the Disney no ads Hulu no ads 19.99 a month. Is the only way to let it expire and then resubscribe on the Disney+ side (which does have that option)? Or am I missing something.

That's exactly it, it appears. The "Disney Bundle Duo Premium" is only available through disneyplus.com:

That seems really short sighted since now I have to wait until my current Hulu plan expires before resubbing to Disney Plus.

Got this e-mail:

Introducing Paramount+ with SHOWTIME, coming January 2024.

Next month, your SHOWTIME add-on subscription through Hulu will automatically become a Paramount+ with SHOWTIME add-on subscription. Don’t worry, you’ll still have access to the same hit movies, series, and fan-favorite genres, just with a new name. Starting next month, you'll be able to access both SHOWTIME and select Paramount+ Originals via the Hulu app, with additional content available via the Paramount+ app.

On January 11, 2024, the price of your SHOWTIME add-on subscription through Hulu will increase to $11.99/month .

The price adjustment will be reflected in your first billing cycle on or after January 11, 2024. Your payment method on file will be charged the new price unless you cancel before the start of your first billing cycle on or after January 11, 2024.

I added this deal but seem to still be getting ads on Hulu when I watch movies. Do I need to log out and log back in?

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions

I have a picture quality question. While watching a program in "My Stuff" on HULU the picture quality is usually very clear. However lately the picture quality has been going from very clear (HD) to looking out of focus (SD) for a short period of time and then returns to HD. It appears as if the signal loses HD and shows just SD until it recovers. HULU never buffers or loses connection, but it appears as if the bandwidth for HD is lost for a few seconds during replay of most shows.

I have 1 gigabyte connection and am using a 4K Firestick. None of my other streaming services (Prime, Netflix, YouTube TV, YouTube, Paramount+, or Peacock) have this problem. Is there a setting on Hulu that I can make to ensure that the picture quality never tries to adjust off of HD? Is anyone else been experiencing these occasional loss of bandwidth pictures?

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions

I have the same issues only with the Live portion of Hulu, occasionally. I'm not familiar with any Hulu app settings that will fix it.

Or if it's dual band router issues, check to make sure the Firestick is using the 5 GHz wifi channel.

Noonan 12-15-23 12:36 PM

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions

I had that happen a few times and it turned out that when it went to "SD", Steam was download some huge game update on my PC. That was also when I was on my older Wifi network. Upgrading that fixed the issue. Now I can download whatever without the quality dropping.

I just got a text from T-Mobile saying they are adding Hulu as part of your benefits starting January 24th. It's the ad supported plan and good for 1 year only.
