Have you tried to unplug it and plug it back in to see if that helps?

If my Fire Stick acts up I just do a soft reboot and then it's fine. But that's not often.

yes. I tried everything. anyway, I got a new one and the only thing I can't get it to operate is my cable box. everything else is fine, but they don't even list "cable" as an option anymore to add the equipment. It's so bizarre. This is the newest generation and it seems like its a fossil not even having cable as an option to choose. I got the cube to actually call out saying "Tuning to channel 11", but it never changes. I also said turn to 301, which is my HBO. Alexa even says "tuning to HBO HD on cable". so it knows the stations it just doesn't change to them.
Also, it won't turn it on, only off. I'm so frustrated.

Re: Amazon Fire TV Streaming Devices

Well, I dunno. I thought it might be the ir blaster so I got a new one. The cable switching was better but it’s still not as responsive as it should be.

If I say turn to channel 70, Alexa knows what channel it is by saying “tuning to Yes Network”, but it won’t change to the station. Sometimes it will change if I ask it a few times, but never on first try. That seems odd. Like one thing is off in my options menu or something.

It’s like there’s one option or function off to make this cube not do only the cable commands. Everything else, every other device, it works fine except the cable.

Anyone have any suggestions? I thank you in advance if you do.

Re: Amazon Fire TV Streaming Devices

I think I got it to mostly work. switched out ir blaster, put it very near the cable box and everything works fine, just a bit of a delay with changing the cable channels is all. i'll live with that. such 3rd world problems...

yes, that happens to me too. I just ignore that notification dot on the home page and don't even open it anymore.

I have two Fire Cubes. Happens on both.

Bought a Fire Stick Max since it dropped ATMOS support all of sudden with whatever the latest update they threw out for the ATV4K. Works flawlessly and will be my dedicated PRIME streaming device going forward. The ATV4K will handle the rest.

Apple TV 4K is buggy with regards to streaming Atmos in its programming at the moment. Their Fire sticks/devices work fine but people are speculating that the most recent update for tvOS made it drop Atmos if you try to stream through the Apple device. I was getting just regular 2.0, when I should have been getting full Dolby Atmos. I also pay the $2.99 ad-free plan, so it's not like Amazon just dropped it because I wasn't paying for the full plan.

I purchased a Fire stick and now I get full on Atmos. It sucks that I had to go out of pocket for it, but I don't have time to wait for a patch to have it run like it should on the Apple TV4K.

Oh wow, yes, PRIME, that would have been helpful of me to say. Shit. I was typing so fast I left the important things out. PRIME is flaky enough as it is.

Re: Amazon Fire TV Streaming Devices

They were having the 4K Pro Max at half off for $30 so I jumped back in after like a decade of leaving the Fire TV/Stick/Cube ecosystem and it's a LOT better. Have it hooked up to our second monitor's HDMI 2 hooked up to our Bluetooth player box thingie. Works great. We recently visited my inlaws and I got hooked on local news so I get 3 local stations (without antenna or subscriptions) and that's good enough for me (also FOX TV is available locally but I don't count that one ).

Loving it so far.

Re: Amazon Fire TV Streaming Devices

So it appears that Amazon has officially blocked all shady and piracy streaming apps on their streaming devices. This tech YouTuber is breaking the news and demonstrates they are indeed blocked.

Re: Amazon Fire TV Streaming Devices

The Walmart ONN devices aren’t blocking anything and reviews say it’s as good as or better then a firestick

I’ve been reading that the older firestick will still be good for loading apps

Cord Cutter News also talks about this that Amazon is blocking jail breaking and side loading this apps.

Amazon is changing their OS and the current one will soon be useless.

I'm not going to criticize or judge anyone, but the current fragmented market is making it extremely hard to enjoy entertainment without a financial burden.

No one on this platform is going to freely admit that they use these devices to cheat the system.

But I appreciate your honesty that you’re a good guy

Pretty much. Even back when people were stealing music I made do with buying CDs.

Re: Amazon Fire TV Streaming Devices

Can someone please help me? After this whole Alexa + switch over, my Fire TV cube has stopped controlling my cable box. It won’t change channels. It will always go to Fire TV input and give me a channel in Fire TV. Can’t change cable. I set up equipment again and again and nothing. It will turn it on and off, but won’t change channels. Please someone help. Thanks in advance.

Re: Amazon Fire TV Streaming Devices

can you connect a cable box to fire tv cube via USB-A cable bc that is the only slot left on fire tv and cable box does have a USB-A port?
