I just added it to my Watchlist but wonder how intrusive the ads will be. I guess I'll find out! :)

New month, new cheez-it promotion. Watch 8 hours of thrillers for $5 of cheeze-it credit and potentially $5 of prime video credit (while supplies last)

If you do it, I highly recommend Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan (one of the best Star Trek films).

Can you fast forward through the movies and have it registered as watched?

Defiant 10-01-20 09:49 AM

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

Not sure, because it doesn't let you know whether a film is registered as watched or not - if you succeed in watching the 8 hours, you get an email a couple of days after the fact with the credit(s).

You can, I believe, have two or three movies going on at the same time, though.

Just be aware (see upthread) that not everyone's gotten the video credit (cause there's only a limited supply).

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

If I just want to log the movie and not actually watch it, I'll stream it on my living room TV, mute it, set a timer for it to turn off after its done, and go to bed. That worked. I got the credit two months ago. Last month I never got the email.

Yeah, I never got the Cheeze-It credit. I guess it’s good to know that it might have been because it was limited and not just because it failed somehow.

No. You have to have an actual 8 hours of streaming time.

I had problems doing that last month. It didn’t register as having completed, even though I had (simultaneously) streamed enough hours. Even after waiting a few days for the delayed notification. I only got it by later adding some more hours of (non-simultaneous) streaming and by then it was too late to get the digital credits.

This month I’m playing it safe and only doing serial streaming.

The Cheez-it credits are not limited. Only the additional Video credit

This is how I do it. Open it up on iPad and shrink it down and play on the side in the back ground.

I've never heard of this before. How do you know if you're getting credit or not? Is their a counter somewhere in your account you can look at?

DJLinus 10-02-20 05:22 AM

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

AFAIK there's no counter. You just have to mentally take note of how long the movies you watch are and if they tally up to a combined 8 hours. Whether or not you then get the credit, it's a crapshoot.

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

You can go here to at least see if it registered.

And you can click them and go back to the movie page, and they should say "Watch Again", which tells me it completed. But I'm getting some weird results this time. Some say Watch Again, others say Continue Watching, and on Roku some will say just Watch Now like it was never started. The Continue Watching ones are either half way through (idk, maybe it stopped playing) or at the first minute or so. And I know some of them made it way past there.

So I just keep spinning them up to make sure.

DJLinus 10-02-20 08:04 AM

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

Thanks for that link. So far I've completed three movies. One says "watch again" and two say "continue watching" Weird. (All streamed on Roku TVs.)

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

And even though we let them run all the way through the credits, I suspect they only count up to the credits. Therefore make sure you watch well beyond the 8 hour requirement. Maybe subtract 10+ minutes from each watched movie when figuring your total.

Defiant 10-02-20 10:56 AM

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

Looks like there's a promotion for Prime members of $5 if you host a watch party (it looks like it's specifically to host it, not just participate it). Do people want to organize short watch parties? (eg, watch my movie, I'll watch yours)?

I've "watched" seven of them so far. I did watch The Village all the way through. I've been wanting to rewatch that one for a long time but it was never available on Netflix or Prime whenever I have looked for it in the past. I do want to watch Gemini Man. Night of the Living Dead is one I've just never got around to seeing, so I may have to check that one out as well.

I only got one email for the Cheez-Its credit. Was there two different emails? Does the amount show up somewhere in your account. I already have $25 in No Rush Rewards. I wonder if it will take the credit from there first or from the Cheez-Its digital credits.

Mine says in the email: You have received a $5 credit towards Cheez-It products and $5 Prime Video credit.
You have to click Redeem in the email in order to get the Video credit too.

Not positive, but I think it takes whichever one expires sooner.

This is the wording they used in my email so i guess I didn't get the video credit or there are no more video credits available:

"Thank you for participating in the Cheez-It Streaming challenge. You have received a $5 credit towards Cheez-It products. Click the button below to redeem your reward and follow the instructions on how to use your reward. Reward Expiration: January 31, 2021 8:00:00 AM UTC"

I didn't get either credit. Probably because I was running movies at the same time (I thought it worked for me previously...)

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

I haven’t (at least yet) received either credit even though I watched well past the requirement for a few days now. It worked for me fine last month, but not this month!
