I wonder if The Night Manager will be the uncensored version or the broadcast version

I've watched 26 movies on Amazon Prime so far this year. I had over 200 on my watchlist, but when I started clicking on them, quite a few were listed as "no longer available." So why are they still up there as offerings when you can't watch them? So I went through the list and removed all the ones that were either unavailable or will cost extra to view. So now I have 120 on my list.

the Watchlist is for "Amazon Video," not just "Amazon Prime Video," so it may include items that are available for sale or rental, not just Prime streaming.

What device are you viewing the watchlist on?

I've had titles I've added that were Prime and then no longer Prime. I leave them in my watch list hoping they come back on Prime. Paid off on maybe 1 or 2 titles. The rest are either no longer available or still have either rental or purchase options. I find it kinda irritating, but a little less than Netflix dropping titles. At least on Amazon, I still see the title I at one time wanted to watch. Whereas Netflix it just disappears

Was The Walking Dead available for Prime before? Someone is bent on arguing with me that it's available now because she had it :\ No convincing her it's not, even when I showed her my account, thinks it's my account only I don't care to convince her, but just curious.

I'm gonna have to finish it on Netflix (got S1 for a buck) since it's so expensive on Amazon Video.

No, The Walking Dead has always been on Netflix. They have seasons 1-6.

I just signed up for prime again. I'm three episodes into Goliath and Red Oaks season 2. I'm loving them. Nice to see Prime is getting some high quality shows.

Is there a recently viewed area in your Prime library? Because I can't find it and think absurd if it isn't there somewhere. I haven't watched too much on Prime yet so unsure. Please tell me it's right under my nose?

Streaming is so annoying. You've Got Mail hit the Prime service in August, so I lent my DVD to someone figuring I could always watch the stream, but when I decided to do that in December it had already been pulled. This is why it will never replace physical media for me.

It's not streaming vs physical media that's the problem. Prime has a limited library of titles that come and go. It's like HBO. You can't compare that to actually owning a movie.

If you'd bought the streaming movie at Amazon, it would still be available in your personal library to watch.

Both Prime and Netflix cycle through movies a lot faster than they used to though. When both started, they'd have a title for potentially years on end. Nowadays, you can't expect them to keep anything but their exclusives for more than a few months.

Yeah. Streaming as it exists from Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu is not intended to replace physical media (they're there to replace TV). Streaming from iTunes, Vudu and non-prime Amazon is.

Agreed that the cycle for some content is shorter now, understandably since the platforms went from being an unproven experiment to leading format in the last half decade. But it's still on par with how long movies stay in rotation on most premium TV stations (and now on their VOD services). Content providers wised up.

That specific link is only for the web browser. Your TV app would have to have it built-in as an option, so it's going to depend on your TV app.

When I refer to streaming, I'm specifically talking about subscriptions services such as Prime and Netflix. I don't consider electronic sell-through (Amazon purchase, iTunes, etc.) the same thing.

What I'm saying is that I won't drop my physical media in favor of subscription streaming, but I know a lot of people don't buy anymore because they don't care about specific titles as long as they always "have something to watch," which streaming is perfectly fine for.

I know that premium cable has a model of making movies available for a certain window, and it makes sense to announce a fairly new title like, say, X-Men Apocalypse or Legend of Tarzan that has been on the rental market for a while. When I had HBO, I'd see that new-ish movies had been added to the service and watch them. But announcing then yanking a 20-year-old movie that few people care about seems like polishing a turd. Just take the helpful posts in this thread about new titles: 13 Hours is somewhat new and probably of interest to a number of people. But how many people are going to care about Blood Diamond?

As mentioned, I don't think the short window is the fault of the service, but of the content provider. Or maybe it is the service's fault, if they have the opportunity of contracting a longer window but can't afford it because of their business model.

wow. ok. seems like a no brainer to have a feature like that on the tv or bluray player app.

Each additional feature added to an app is additional programming and debugging time, and the effort to include it may not be worth the amount it's likely to be missed or even used. Plus, TV manufacturers aren't going to care about much more than basic functionality for their "smart" TVs; as long as they can slap the service name on the box.

You're more likely to see more features in an app on a widely used platform like iOS, Android, or Roku. The less widespread the app is, the less the developer is going to work on it, and the more barebones it's going to be.
