I've always been interested in Dr. Who because the DVDs are so expensive. I'll give it a couple of eps. |

Also the show shifts tone a bit as they change through actors and showrunners, so if the first few episodes don't grab you, I could suggest a few alternative "jumping in" points. |

Keep in mind this is just "new" Dr. Who, i.e. the series from its relaunch in 2005 forward.

It's one of those shows that get better as you go like Babylon 5 and Farscape. you almost have to suffer through it for a bit before you get the big pay-off that everyone promises you'll get to.

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
Amazon Fire TV does not stream Vudu content, correct?
|
Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
Correct. They have Flixster, which is a shit app. You can connect to it by linking your UV account, but it's an ugly app to use.

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
That is true, but I absolutely watching any TV show or movie on my phone. And I have a 6 Plus. Just a personal thing though.

Amazon to launch standalone Prime streaming video service. $8.99 per month. With the shipping perks and streaming music it's $10.99 per month. This is for those interested in streaming video only or those who don't want to pay for all things Prime in 1 lump sum. |
Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
So does the Annual Fee now remain the same or go up to 132.00?

Both monthly subscription tiers are more expensive than Amazon's annual subscription. The company raised the price from $79 to $99 in the spring of 2014. The $10.99-a-month Prime membership is equivalent to nearly $132 for the year, while the $8.99 a month Prime Video option is nearly $108 a year. What makes these monthly options attractive, however, is that they can be canceled at any time. So, a customer can sign up for the monthly plan, binge the first two seasons of Transparent and then cancel the plan. |
Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
I can see why the month-to-month option might appeal to some people. But I'm happy paying $99/yr for everything.

I don't understand this option at all (from Amazon's perspective). It seems like they would lose their ass in November. Who wouldn't spend $11 for "all you can eat" shipping for just that month?
|
Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
I wonder if this is setting the stage to get rid of the Free Prime Trial. That's where they really lose over the holidays.

On the other hand, there could be a significant number of people who sign up for "only" November/December, then keep their subscription either because they like it or they simply forget.

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
I wonder if/when Netflix will drop AWS. Maybe they can move to Microsoft's servers?
|
Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
I went with the 10.99 a month. I don't like paying the money all up front.
They should have a separate website away from Amazon.com. It's too confusing. I might be buying stuff without knowing it. It's evident that they,Netflix and Hulu need a lot of work on showing their available programming because it's a sea of web pages and if you don't know what you're looking for it's going too take age's too find something too watch. |
Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
As long as I have the funds available after my free year of Prime is up, I plan to renew at the annual price. But I don't have to worry about that until December.
