Sounds like way too much bother. Thanks for the info.

Re: Target's Video Streaming Service

Of the ten I grabbed, all appear in my UV account, but only 9 of them mapped successfully into Vudu (Mars Attacks is the outlier).

Odd. (that you picked Mars Attacks, wtf?)

You should check your Ultraviolet account to make sure it showed up properly, Mars Attack showed up instantly on Vudu for me.

I picked Mars Attacks and it shows up in Vudu for me. I found that sometimes it takes a while to populate.

Re: Target's Video Streaming Service

There have been numerous reports of problems at Vudu with Mars Attacks. It's disappeared/reappeared in some accounts. About a month ago I ran into a problem where it wouldn't show up on Roku/PS3, but I could see it on the website. That lasted for about a week. Seems like a persistent database error that comes and goes.

Here's a couple threads:

https://forum.vudu.com/showthread.ph...8-MARS-ATTACKS
https://forum.vudu.com/showthread.ph...ut-NOT-on-Roku
https://forum.vudu.com/showthread.ph...on-vudu-on-PS3

Also, the movie's cropped from 2.35:1 to 1.85:1.

Well, after the freebies from CinemaNow and Flixster, there were few movies on this list that weren't already in my account. Mars Attacks certainly wasn't in my top 20, but after deleting everything that I already had and everything I didn't that I wanted, I still had 2-3 picks left. I even had to select Space Jam and 21 Grams.

Mars Attacks is one of my favorite "I know people hate this but I still fucking love it" movies. I meant to have a wink emoticon there, whoops.

2 Free mini-movies from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2

Not sure how long they'll be available, though.

Re: Target's Video Streaming Service

Target Ticket has dropped the price of next-day TV shows to $0.99 (SD) and $1.99 (HD) per episode. Everywhere else is charging $1.99 (SD) and $2.99 (HD).

I hope other services will follow suit and drop their prices.

Right now you can get $5 off a rental or purchase with the code TEAMTARGET - I used it to get "Hillbillys in a Haunted House" for free.

Re: Target's Video Streaming Service

Rumors are going around that Target Ticket will be closing in the next couple months.

This will be a shame. They often have decent sales on UV titles. And they're the only other UV service (besides Vudu) that actually works. Flixtser & CinemaNow are both garbage. M-Go frequently has trouble connecting to UV accounts. Never had trouble playing movies on Target Ticket.

Re: Target's Video Streaming Service

Meh, Target Ticket never had 5.1 sound (a deal-breaker) and their "HD" video quality had a lot of compression artifacts on the movies I watched. If they shut it down, that means they'll have less reason to give physical media the shaft in their stores. I'd like a service to come along and take out Vudu just because Wal-Mart owns it, but Target Ticket was never gonna do it.

I read in another forum that it will be a merger with CinemaNow.

How does this affect them using floor space to sell physical media? If they merge with CinemaNow it's all moot.

I've never encountered any issued with Flixster, but I only use the app on my phone. I've never tried it on another media device.

Re: Target's Video Streaming Service

Flixster is just as bad on the Roku- 2-channel sound only. CinemaNow looks like it COULD be good on some equipment, but not on mine. The Roku interface is unusably slow (takes literally a minute just to load my Ultraviolet library) and doesn't seem to deliver 5.1 sound, my TV's interface is usable but awkward (nothing like Vudu), and only gets 5.1 sound on a few titles- they were using Dolby Digital Plus for a while but have changed to DTS Express which my TV can't output so I just get the newer ones in 2-channel.

How does this affect them using floor space to sell physical media?
With Target Ticket, they could wipe out the whole media section tomorrow and just put a sign up saying "Now buy everything on Target Ticket! No pesky discs, watch instantly! Streaming is the future!" If they merge with CinemaNow then they could still do that, but if they end up having nothing then that's more incentive for them to keep media in their stores. I'm surprised Best Buy doesn't own CinemaNow anymore, their media selection still sucks so they just won't be selling many movies period.

I didn't realize they sold it off.

The whole UltraViolet thing needs an overhaul anyway. Too many different services under one umbrella. I did Disc-to-Digital on CinemaNow a couple of years ago and it took me over a month to get the damn movie to show up in my library across all the platforms. There's potential but it's very clunky.

Re: Target's Video Streaming Service

I have a few movies purchased off Target Ticket.

I bought The Fault of our Stars extended edition and a few other movies with some credit I accumulated. I also have those Captain America exclusive featurettes that I claimed from buying the BD from Target. If the service goes under, I wonder if I would lose all of them. Since they were purchased off Target, it doesn't seem like they are UV and transferrable to other streaming providers.

I wondered the same thing but at the other forum I was told that all movies and credit would move over to cinemanow.

Re: Target's Video Streaming Service

They just announced the closing on their website. March 7th is the last day. They've partnered with CinemaNow, and you'll be able to transfer any purchases.

Bummer that the venture is going under, but not surprised. There's just too many options out there for streaming and on demand and I'm sure Target wasn't making much or any money at all.

Not a bummer at all, their site has to be the worst streaming site I've ever visited.
