OMG that is awesome!
See, I go the other way. My wife watches all those period British things - Downtown Abbey, Thorns Fly over Larkford, Midwives, anything Jane Austen, People in an Olden Village, whatever they are. (I do not watch those - clearly - although I enjoyed the Downton Abbey movie). I always tease her about watching her 'hat shows'. But that's absolutely what we call them. That list needs more 19th/early20th Britstuff :) I am absolutely sending her a screenshot of that. |

Weird how so many in each bundle are available in UHD, yet they don't offer any option for that.

re: The Fandango at Home (Vudu) Thread - News, Bargains & Codes
^The only bundle that is UHD I posted last week, it has Dredd, Crank, Communter, American Assassin and the Expendables.

re: The Fandango at Home (Vudu) Thread - News, Bargains & Codes
Right but these current bundles are all HDX, but a lot of them are also available as UHD.

Not a bargain, but has anyone experienced HDX titles having brighter colors than UHD? Something I've been noticing for a while when watching UHD. Colors seem washed out. I've had a Samsung un65ks8000fxza for a few years now. Finer details are still there but colors are not.

You might need to adjust your TV's settings for 4K video. My TV (TCL Roku TV) has different settings for Regular, HDR, and Dolby Vision. I had to tweak the HDR and DV settings a lot until I was happy with them. |

Movie Night Sale has Sony movies from the ‘60s, most of which were in the Fanflix 3/10 sale, but adds Lawrence of Arabia, Dr Strangelove, and Easy Rider at $4.99 UHD. I’ll get at least the first two, as I don’t have Strangelove on digital (bought the Warner Kubrick set), and I still have good memories of seeing LoA in theaters 30-some years ago so I’ll gladly upgrade.

$4.99 weekend deals: https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/...8271?offset=24
Some good titles offered this week. I already have Kick Ass on Blu, but might have to upgrade to UHD at that price. And I won't go as far to say that The Fanatic is worth $5, but it must be seen at some point. |
re: The Fandango at Home (Vudu) Thread - News, Bargains & Codes
I think this is the first time they have had a $4.99 Weekend sale after Labor Day weekend. That was always the end of the regular Friday sales.

True Blood is on sale for $29.99. Show is 7 seasons.

re: The Fandango at Home (Vudu) Thread - News, Bargains & Codes
True Blood is on HBO MAX. Now if it were mispriced like that Mad Men set, that would be a deal.

I haven't seen this particular anime yet, so this is going to be a comment about anime in general. Personally, I prefer watching all movies in their original language with subtitles. However, in terms of dubbing, anime is typically the most acceptable, like I won't insist we watch the Japanese with subs version if someone I'm watching it wants to watch it with the dub, as opposed to live action where I'd probably outright refuse to watch the dub. And anime dubs have gotten really good over the years, and you can see from the English dub cast list that they hired some name talent. From what I can find, the reviews of the dub, or reviews that mention watching the dubbed version, seem to view the dub positively. There's also separate anime databases for anime films, but they don't seem to focus on dubs all that much: https://myanimelist.net/anime/21557/...rnie&cat=anime https://anidb.net/anime/10313 |

Oh it's a Studio Ghibli film. I see now it's on HBO Max. I will probably just watch it there.

re: The Fandango at Home (Vudu) Thread - News, Bargains & Codes
Thanks guys. Yeah, I almost always prefer original language with subtitles, but these are good, famous actors so was confused by that. Perhaps 2 viewings would be in order then. I got the Blu. I figure $7 more with both tracks and extras was in order considering the reviews and those actors that I really like.
