Do-It-Yourself Film School Sale https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/...ilm-School/194 There's some decent $4.99 titles https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/...-For-4-99/7735 , but none of these titles are MA

Based on some of those movies, that would be a really shitty film school.

I don’t know if anyone feels like me, but I’ve kind of cooled off on Vudu. The weekly sales lately IMO have been lackluster. I think it’s partly attributed to new content drying up. And the most recent stuff that I am interested in, I already own.

re: The Fandango at Home (Vudu) Thread - News, Bargains & Codes

The lack of new releases is a big problem, no question, and the sales often repeat titles. Ragtime has appeared in at least two recent sales for $9.99, and today I pulled the trigger at $4.99. Also got An Officer and a Gentleman.

I’m sure all these a la carte services are trying to adapt to a steaming world that has just added two big new players. Vudu has been doing some really niche sales, maybe as a counter to this.

re: The Fandango at Home (Vudu) Thread - News, Bargains & Codes

Yeah I just don't feel compelled to buy anything lately. And yes as you said, the weekly sales seem to be repeating content over and over.

And for stuff that I would like to see, but don't really want to own, they are starting to make their way to services like HBO Max. Queen and Slim for example is something I want to see, but don't feel the need to pay 8-10 bucks to own and it's coming to HBO Max in August.

I don’t really buy a ton off of Vudu but every so often I will. I do some of the disc to digital conversions for movies I feel like I’ll watch and don’t have digital copies of. Might grab Into the Wild for $4.99. I was actually just looking at it the other day and it was $9.99 which I felt was too high.

This $5.99 sale is pretty good. Titles from Music Box Films rarely go on sale.

I grabbed Sex & Lucia, Tell No One, 100 Bloody Acres, and OSS 117. I'll probably pick-up a few more.

I haven't heard of almost any of those films. Tell No One looks interesting.

Also those The Story of Film series looks cool. Too bad there are 5 of them, but together they make up a 16 hour run time. So it would be $30 total. I wonder if it's worth it, like a Great Courses course.
Edit : Found that The Story of Film is on HULU. Will just watch it there instead.

I picked up The Longest Yard (Burt Reynolds version) and I Love You, Man on sale for $4.99 each. I'm tempted by Shane and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, but I'm hoping there will be 4k versions sometime soon. I actually watched The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance in film school. Red Eye is on sale for $6.99. I'm tempted to get it since it's not available on Blu-ray, but $4.99 is my price point for HD catalog title digital copies.

Tell No One is excellent. It's been on my Vudu wishlist for years waiting for a sale. This is the first time it's dropped below $15.

Tell No One is brilliant. I have the Blu-ray and I highly recommend. I’m sure cheap and region A, I believe with decent extras, if brief. So need to see again. I don’t know how the fuck I saw this or Timecrimes, but I remember seeing around same time. Both are extraordinary. I might have rented, but I did that long long ago and have no idea how I would even know about them.

I read the book recently, but when I went to watch the movie on Overdrive or whatever my library system uses, the audio was out of sync by like 30 second. Too distracting to watch. Might grab it on Vudu.

$4.99 Weekend Deals: https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/...7729?offset=72

Some good stuff and overlooked gems (They Came Together, Dredd, Popstar), but I already own what I'd want.

Also, I saw over on the Vudu subreddit that there's a "buy a $10 package of Jack Links, get a $10 code" deal at Walmart. I guess if you're already planning on getting some jerky, then that works out well for ya.

I honestly thought it was the same $5.99 sale from a week or two, but I do know a few of these titles. I got Largo Wynch (I’ve read some of the Eurocomics and might have seen it before) and Tell No one based on the trailer and the mentions here.

I’ve gotten Shane, Liberty Valance, and some other classics over the past year or so. There are others I’d get like The Stalking Moon if they weren’t SD only.

Not sure where this goes...
How long does it take a VUDU purchase that is MoviesAnywhere compatible, to sync up with my accounts?
I bought a movie on Vudu today and was going to text my wife I bought it, but she watches stuff through Amazon Video so I would point her to that.
It's not showing up yet.
I bought it on Vudu on my Xbox One.
In the past it seemed to be pretty instant.
Should I de-link and then link again?

Did you check your movies anywhere account?

In my experience, it usually syncs up within a minute, although I seem to remember reading that it could take up to a day (or am I thinking of ultraviolet?)

I would make sure that it's movie-anywhere eligible - check the movie both at vudu (to see if it has the MA symbol) and then look the movie up on Movies Anywhere. Also, it's conceivable that it ported from vudu to your movies anywhere account but not from movies anywhere to Amazon.

And if it doesn't show up, I would take a look at what it recommends in the help section on Movies Anywhere.

re: The Fandango at Home (Vudu) Thread - News, Bargains & Codes

Yep. It's not in my MA account. The last MA-eligible movie I bought, a few weeks ago, is there.
The movie itself is on MovieAnywhere, and the Vudu listing has the little logo in the More Info section.
More info
Genre:Comedy/Special Interest
Length: 131 minutes
Released: 2011
Rating: NR
Studio: Universal Studios
Language: English
Rotten Tomatoes® Score CERTIFIED_FRESH90%
Movies Anywhere

OK I signed out/in to MA, that didn't do anything.
I disconnected and reconnected, and now the movie shows up on MA, and it went through to Amazon as well.

I was mostly not sure what happens when accounts are disconnected. Looks like the main thing is you can't connect to ANOTHER account in a certain time period, but no problem reconnecting to the original account.
And that buying through Microsoft didn't make it different.

Mystery solved - well, not really 'solved', but resolved. "When in doubt, reboot".

Thanks!

Very interesting. Looks like HBO, Cinemax and Stars stuff, some Big Bang Theory and Mr. Robot, but not all.

Hmmm. I don't have anything yet, and I have a lot of HBO stuff. Do you have to link up somehow?

That's probably titles from UV.

This came up a couple weeks ago on another forum. After some discussion, everyone realized it was just UV titles.

Maybe. I see BCS there and that was definitely a UV title. But they didn't show up before the merge.

The one that sticks out is Little House On The Prairie...that was a Vudu purchase that is now on FandangoNow. I’d have to take a closer look at the others to see if they were UV redemptions.
