I'm fairly new to the Vudu-collection crowd, and I have a quick question: does Walmart still have the extra Vudu credits included with some DVDs/BDs? Or has that ship sailed?

Probably depends. I was at Walmart last weekend and saw a few in the $5 bin with credits but they listed an expiration date of 1/31/14, so those ones had expired.

There are $5 credits on select romance movies (mostly Paramount and WB titles).

Also, $4 Credits on select packages of Kleenex.

I may be forgetting some.

There is a whole sub-culture of trading built around those VUDU credits. Apparently a number of different promotions are running at any one time, but I've noticed that not every store will receive them. They typically sell for half of face value on the more popular digital trading sites.

Each code type has a specific limit of how many times it can be redeemed on an account.

Can those credits be applied to Disc-to-Digital purchases, or only for buying digital titles on VUDU?

/\ You can use for them either. Myself, I stack them up and do D2D. Make sure to do at least 10 conversions to get them at 50% off, though.

Yup. You just use your codes and enter them into your online account and they show up as a credit. Any purchases online (buying movies or rentals, D2D conversions, etc) will hit the credits first and then ask for cashola from you for the difference if any.

So frustrated that I've d2d all my discs and the only ones left are Disney and MGM's. I don't expect Disney anytime soon... But c'mon MGM! Open up that back catalog!

I just wish that it worked a little better. If I grab 10 BDs that are eligible, usually only 6-7 will be properly recognized.
