I don't know if this has been mentioned before in the other posts.

You can change the subtitle appearance in Netflix.

Log on to netflix.com and go to your account. Click on Subtitle Appearance.
You can change colors, font size and style of the subtitles.

I was staying at my parents over the holidays and they have Comcast. It was jarring how much worse Netflix looked compared to what I got at home (Charter is my local provider). General internet speed tests between the 2 services are comparable though, suggesting something funny may be going on with Netflix and Comcast.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

I'm on the fence about dumping comcast cable TV and just going to Netflix. I'd like to make the jump, but hearing how Comcast is screwing with Netflix gets me a bit worried. Also, our house is pretty big on online gaming, streaming, & downloading already, so I'm worried about blowing through our bandwidth cap. I know Comcast has suspended the cap for now, but if they bring it back I assume I'd hit it pretty quickly just by watching 4 or 5 seasons of a show.

Anyone else struggle with Netflix and bandwidth capping?

Call up Comcast and mention you're thinking about cancelling ... maybe ask for some preliminary information about how to go about things. They'll likely come up with a "special" rate to entice you to stay. A rate that's not made public but service reps are authorized to give out. My cable company knocked $40/month off my bill just from making a call like that (I wasn't fishing for a discount ... I was legit inquiring about the "cutting the cord" process). The discount pushed me back into the side of keeping cable for now. That and me finding out that the over-the-air reception in my area is absolute crap

Yeah, I'm on Comcast, my Triple Play package went up to $150/month a few months ago. I called and asked to downgrade, my bill is now $94/month (I also bought a $35 cable modem which dropped my bill $7/month) with the exact same package.

I'm on Comcast too. Ask to speak with their "Customer Retention Department". Those are the people that are authorized to give the special deals. They knocked about $40/month off my bill and threw in all the premium channels.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

I have had the streaming plan for some time but decided to get the disc plan too. My first two discs were both broken in half and the only thing holding them together was the sticker around the center that has the title on it. Is this normal?

Yes, this is exactly the condition each disc always arrives.

Last time I subscribed to the physical rentals (about a year ago), I'd say around 5-10% of the discs I received were cracked. If you report it, they'll send a replacement right away.

It's been frustrating watching tv and movies that are usually coming in at under DVD quality, and neither Comcast nor Netflix will admit wrongdoing.
We just got Comcast( refuse to call it xfinity) today, just internet same plan as you.

We moved and decided to cut Brighthouse and their ridiculous prices.
i am using NFS through the app on my tv.
On BH i would get full 1080p whenever avaialble and 3D worked beautifully.

Right now I'm watching a superHD movie and 20 minutes in only have 480sd.

Beowulf 3D took two tries to get until it finally loaded and that took 5 minutes.

*sigh*

It seems to be getting slightly better. I've been getting 1080p intermittently, when before I wasn't getting it at all.

I watched Legend of the Fist at 10:00 at night last week and couldn't get it to buffer above 480 for the life of me. Their servers must just get too much traffic, it was supposed to be a "Super HD" title too. At least the aspect ratio was right.

Huh? The Host is only in Korean on my Netflix. Or did you just watch the beginning (which is in English) and shut it off?

Finally about 1am into the third episode of Dexter that I watched the 1080 info finally poopped on.

I hated BH because their prices are insanely high but I think I hate Comstank even more.

I might have to bump up higher then their 50 speed but will that even work?

That shouldn't have an effect honestly, unless you're on like a 10mbps line.

Doesn't make sense.
I was on the same speed with BH and NFS was perfect.

I guess I need to figure out what all those speed numbers mean. I have the 50 mbps but on a speed test it rarely goes above 27.

Simply, that means you HAVE 27, and PAY for 50.

Yeah, they don't have the dub at all on that one.

What modem do you have? is it DOCSIS 3.0?

What part of the country are you in?
