Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
I just signed up for the standard $6.99 monthly with ads. I didn't realize they block some movies when you sign up for the "with ads" subscription. I signed up to dive into the catalog of trashy dating shows. Perfect Match is like Netflix's version of Bachelor in Paradise.

Oh, right, there are some where the licensor hasn't agreed to show ads or whatever. But I thought they'd hammer that out for at least shows entering the service by now. |
Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
It sucks but I reupped my subscription for a couple of months mostly for the trashy dating shows. It's kind of my summer guilty pleasure.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
Netflix is killing the Basic plan by July 13 for all grandfathered subscribers (edit: in Canada and UK. US will be later this quarter). They'll have to change to either the ad-supported plan or one of the more expensive ad-free plans.

So much for everyone complaining about Netflix price increases

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
Just a FYI, there is a major online leak of upcoming Netflix titles. This has been ongoing the last couple days. So far the majority deal with Netflix animation titles. The ongoing leak may expand even more outside that.

Netflix 'Aggressively Taking Action' Against Anime Leaks, Crunchyroll Also Affected Arcane, Dandadan, and Terminator Zero leaks were reported internally. Netflix has said it's "actively taking action" against the massive animation leaks which saw full episodes of upcoming shows like Arcane, Terminator Zero, Dandadan, Ranma ½, and more appear on X/Twitter and 4Chan. In a statement provided to IGN, a Netflix spokesperson said the leaks were first reported internally prior to spreading online. Crunchyroll was affected too, seemingly to a lesser extent, as the premiere episode of isekai anime Re: Zero also leaked. “One of our post-production partners has been compromised and footage from several of our titles has unfortunately leaked online,” the Netflix spokesperson said. “Our team is aggressively taking action to have it taken down.” Since the initial episodes appeared online on August 6, other shows like Heartstopper Season 3, Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld, and films like Plankton: The Movie, and Spellbound have also leaked. Netflix’s response comes two days after radio silence on the matter, which led fans to fear that the streamer wouldn’t take action against the leaks at all. While most of the threads about the leaked episodes — which featured burnt-in time stamps and watermarks as well as unfinished renderings of Arcane episodes — have been taken down on 4Chan threads, screenshotted hyperlinks to said episodes still exist. Fans of any of the mentioned shows may want to be careful of spoilers on social media. While a vocal minority of fans online called for Netflix to counteract the leaks by releasing the affected episodes early, the majority rallied in support of the shows' artists and creators to wait until their official release, dodge spoilers, and report accounts spreading leaks — even if that meant doing so until November. The official release dates for each affected show are as follows:
*** https://www.thewrap.com/netflix-crun...-arcane-anime/ Netflix, Crunchyroll Impacted by Data Leak, With Full Episodes of Anime Titles, ‘Heartstopper’ Season 3 Released “Our team is aggressively taking action to have it taken down,” a Netflix spokesperson told TheWrap exclusively Netflix and Crunchyroll titles leaked on social media Thursday, with full episodes of shows released on TikTok and X including the anticipated “Heartstopper” Season 3 and anime fare like “Arcane” and the Season 3 premiere of “Re:Zero.” The leak was first reported internationally, as fans spotted clips of unfinished footage on social media, as first reported by sites like IGN and What’s on Netflix. X users lamented the leaks, begging the streamers to release the shows early to counter the avalanche of spoilers. “One of our post-production partners has been compromised and footage from several of our titles has unfortunately leaked online,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement exclusively to TheWrap Thursday night. “Our team is aggressively taking action to have it taken down.” “We are aware of a content leak ahead of one of our fall series. We’ve opened an investigation to identify the source of this leak, and our team is taking action to have it taken down,” a Crunchyroll spokesperson said in a statement Friday. A similar cyber situation affected the release of the Season 2 finale of the HBO hit “House of the Dragon” ahead of its release last week. HBO blamed the leak on a third-party international distributor when scenes from the first half of the anticipated episode were shared by a TikTok account. The posts spread across X and Reddit as the network worked to shut down the leak and prevent spoilers. “We are aware that clips from the ‘House of the Dragon’ season finale have surfaced across social media platforms,” an HBO spokesperson said in a statement on July 31.. “The clips were posted after an unintentional release from an international third-party distributor. HBO is aggressively monitoring and removing clips from the internet, and fans can watch the episode in its entirety this Sunday night on HBO and Max.” Along with the scenes from “Heartstopper,” reported by What’s on Netflix, the most recent leak impacted shows like “Dandadan” (six episodes), “Ranma ½” (four episodes) and “Terminator Zero” (the complete season), according to IGN. 5 Season 2 episodes of the Netflix series “Arcane” were released on social media, along with the Season 3 premiere of Crunchyroll’s “Re: Zero.” The anime film “Mononoke The Movie” also reportedly leaked. *** https://iyuno.com/news/iyuno-security-incident-update An Update From Iyuno Iyuno Security Incident Update Iyuno is aware of a recent security issue, involving unauthorized access to confidential content. Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
A bunch of recent AMC shows have dropped on Netflix.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
Showtime’s Yellowjackets Season 1 is coming to Netflix in a month, ahead of Season 3’s debut on Showtime.
For those who have never seen it, I really enjoy this show, especially that first Emmy-nominated season. |
Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
(YMMV) - Just noticed I got an email from Verizon a few days ago. If I subscribe to NFL+ for $99.99 they'll include 1 year of Netflix Premium (same plan I'm currently on).
Cancelled Netflix, signed up for deal on Verizon, activated Netflix. Save $176. (And set reminder to cancel NFL+). I'll probably cancel Netflix via Verizon when the year is up and just pay Netflix directly again. (off topic, the NFL+ app on my phone is terrible. It doesn't recognize I have the subscription half of the time. The Apple TV app works fine) |
Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
For those who still haven't seen it, Bad Boys: Ride or Die is now available on Netflix.
I didn't want to bump the reviews thread since it's open spoilers. |

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
I don't understand why people continue to get into business with Netflix then complain. I'm sure he liked the fat check.
I saw Glass Onion in theatres and I'd see the third one too. I don't like how they won't budge on this. But Johnson knew what they were getting into. Just because Netflix opens their wallet the most doesn't mean it is the right place for every film. |
Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
If it were relatively simple to do a full on theatrical release, maybe they'd do it (and then bring it to their service), but isn't there a ton involved not the least of which is marketing?

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
And this is my point. Just because they're offering to pay probably double or triple what it's worth, doesn't mean it is the right place for the movie. Good for all of them for not just taking the easy pay day.

Marketing is expensive, but Netflix has a great platform where they could market a movie in a big way, without any costs. It's called Netflix. Just put a banner on the home screen and a trailer in front of everything, like Apple TV+ does. It annoys the shit out of me, but I saw a lot of Napoleon and Killers of the Flower Moon way before they were available on the service.

I wonder how effective that is, especially advertising to the audience that will basically get the movie for free in a month or so. Like did it get you to go to the theater to see Napoleon or Killers of the Flower Moon?
I saw both of those theatrically. But I'm an AMC A-List member, so that was a big part of it. |
Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
Apparently Netflix is going to show some trailers for new shows and movies during the football games tomorrow. The Night Agent season 2 will be one of them.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
The trailer for Happy Gilmore 2 had a brief shot of Travis Kelce. Wasn't expecting that.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
Wait, I thought everyone was canceling Netflix because all their shows and movies are subpar ;)
|
Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
I wonder how much of that growth is because of WWE Raw.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
This may be buried in the X links a couple posts back but…
Price increase for all plans effective immediately. $7.99 / $17.99 / $24.99 (Ad/Ad-free/4K) |
Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
$25/month for any streaming service that doesn't have live TV is fucking bonkers.
Here are the details of the price increase: Netflix is raising prices again https://www.theverge.com/2025/1/21/2...rnings-q4-2024 |
